Meet Nadia “toni” Clarke | Master Cosmetologist & Salon Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia “toni” Clarke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadia “Toni”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For 13 years, I had the privilege of working alongside my godmother, learning the ins and outs of the industry. But eventually, I was ready to step into my own—ready to be Batman, so to speak. I wanted to see what I could create, to build a space where stylists could collaborate, share ideas, and bring their unique talents together in a kind of salon utopia.
Beyond just hair, I envisioned a place where I could bring my ideas to life—like my community outreach initiatives. Just two months after opening, I hosted a breast cancer awareness event where seven women received free breast exams from a doctor I brought in. I’ve also hosted Girls Talk events, where young girls hear from professionals—lawyers, doctors, and nurses who look like them—about their bodies, their futures, and their potential.
Toni Clarke Salon is more than just a salon; it’s a space for creativity, collaboration, and community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Toni Clarke Salon was born out of a vision for more than just hairstyling—I wanted to create a space where people felt safe, heard, and stress-free while receiving beautiful services.
I initially planned to open a few months earlier, but due to the state of the world in 2020, I had to wait. When I finally opened, I made safety a priority. We implemented strict COVID protocols, providing each client with a pack that included booties, masks, alcohol swabs, and vitamin C drops to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability—pivoting when necessary and not taking things personally. During my time in this business, I’ve experienced personal loss, but I always reminded my team that this is like Disney—our clients should never see an “angry princess.” That mindset shaped our salon culture. Whatever is happening outside, we leave it at the door because our clients come to us to feel seen, heard, and cared for.
Beyond hairstyling, I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built. At Toni Clarke Salon, you’re not just getting your hair done—you’re gaining access to a network of support. Clients and stylists alike can find internships, job recommendations, referrals to doctors, lawyers, and more. We believe in sharing knowledge, not gatekeeping, and lifting each other up.
I also believe strongly in mentorship. I ask questions, seek guidance, and lean on those who’ve been where I want to go. I have a great friend I call my “fairy business godmother” because she held my hand through this journey, and I know how vital those relationships are. Business will always come with challenges, but having the right support system can make all the difference. I honestly just want the world to know, that here at The Toni Clarke Salon we really are focused on you and your hair. Just like our tag

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friend visits, I love to showcase some of the local gems in Snellville. After tailgating and catching an Atlanta Falcons game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we head straight to El Jinete Mexican Restaurant for some great Mexican food and vibes. And while I haven’t been there yet, I’ve heard great things about The Patio Social Club in Snellville so it would definitely be on the list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
want to start by shouting out my little girls, Harper and Ava. Everything I do is because of you and with you in mind. I love watching you both shine, and I believe in everything you believe in.
I also want to dedicate this to all the little girls who have a dream, who feel special, who know they have their own superpowers and are ready to let them out. Your courage inspires me. Because of you, I am a better mother, stylist, friend, and business owner. You are the future, and I am honored to be a part of your journey!
