We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Howse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business because I was very passionate about wanting to help small businesses grow, and I wanted to be my own boss. I used to work in a traditional corporate structure, and I felt a bit restricted and unfulfilled because I wasn’t making my own decisions.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Before I started my journey as a social media manager/strategist, I was a full time YouTube content creator. I think because my background is creating content, this gives me an advantage of knowing what it’s like to be on the other end where you are creating content by yourself. This helps me set realistic standards of posting schedules, and knowing what works/ what doesn’t work. I also specialize in helping brands tell their story and create an emotional connection with their audience. This is the key in what works to perform well on social media today, people don’t care to just see someone’s life flaunted, they care about the story behind a business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone was visiting me in Chicago I would take them to Pilsen for some good, authentic, tacos and grab a margarita or two. Then I would head to the Fulton Market neighborhood and take them to Punch Bowl Social, to play some games while enjoying some more drinks. I would also take them to Lazy Bird, which is one of my favorite speakeasies in Chicago. Then I would go to Wicker Park and do some shopping, and take them to the railcar escape room, which is so much fun! I think Chicago has a lot to offer, and they key is to do things that locals spend time doing, not just the typical tourist attractions. But I would have to take them to Cindy’s rooftop to see the view of Michigan avenue to enjoy the city skyline at least one night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my partner Sam Ray, he helped me scale my business to a higher level and has always been so supportive during the good and bad times. Sometimes you need someone to help remind you to keep going even when it isn’t easy, and I’m very grateful to him for giving me that encouragement.
