We had the good fortune of connecting with Naarah & Niomie Mitrou-long and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naarah & Niomie, what is the most important factor behind your success?

The most important factor is patience. We are patient with ourselves inclusive of building skills, building relationships, outsourcing products, constantly learning through trial and error, and so much more. We both have built a high level of patience to lead to the success we have, especially when considering all the errors we’ve made but we have used these errors to learn and improve. Working with multiple personalities could be challenging and this business venture has given us the opportunity to develop patience and learn to deal with any situation being thrown in our direction. However, we haven’t always been this way. We found that when things have been rushed in the past, the outcomes would not be ideal, and at times we would consider giving up. We’ve gotten to the point where we now understand that great things do not happen overnight and our future vision of our success will require patience and hard work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Our beauty company offers a wide range of luxury beauty services. These services include eyelash extensions, tape-in hair extensions, nails, and much more. We also offer educational classes to young entrepreneurs on starting up new beauty businesses. We are two sisters who founded and run the company. What sets us apart from other companies is that we pride ourselves on being teachable. Although we strive to be the leaders in this industry, you are never too smart or too good to learn! We are always looking for improvement in everything we do, and we recognize that knowledge is truly powerful.  Another thing that sets us apart from other companies, is that we sell top-quality products at an extremely affordable price! A huge goal we have here at Naomiekaybeauty is to build a company where women from all walks can be a part of a community where they can relate, feel comfortable, and be supported. Working alongside each other, we’ve pushed each other to strive for greatness which led us to a journey where discipline has become one of our main focus. The road has not been an easy one, but having each other gives us balance within our business. We’ve created a bond and partnership that has kept us motivated through this journey, pushing through all obstacles personally and professionally. We know our dedication, hard work, and passion will help us thrive and take our business to the next level. All in all, we are excited to see what the future holds for us and Naomiekaybeauty.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Mississauga is right outside of Toronto, so there’s lots to do both here and downtown when friends are coming to visit. If I were to craft an itinerary, I would start by treating my girls to self-care at our salon: nails, hair, lashes, you name it! As far as food goes, we can head over to Earls for a casual happy hour or dine in at Alioli’s for a fancier wine and dine night. Because we are a huge Basketball family, we would definitely hit up any CEBL games throughout the week, but besides that we would mix in VIP movie nights at the theatre, bowling nights, and just general hang outs at the studio with our friends and family. Last but certainly not least, we enjoy a good time with good music and good company so we would head downtown to the clubs in Toronto before wrapping up the trip, with a late breakfast the next morning!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This might sound cliché but definitely our mom. She comes from very little and has worked hard every single day to give to our family and others as long as she was able to help. Growing up, she always told us that we could do and be anything we wanted to be. Her support has been integral in inspiring us to grow this business. She helped us start our journey, with her knowledge of running a business herself, and invested in our business as well. She has always been a great listening ear for us when we hit roadblocks, and that person to go to when bouncing ideas around. We can go on forever about how truly grateful we are for her support but to end it off, we want to thank our mom for all that she’s done and will continue to do.
