Meet Myss Shan | Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Myss Shan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myss, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, I had never planned on starting a business. It had never been something that I thought of or had ever dreamt of, however I knew that once I had became an author and had to basically maneuver my way through without very much help, I knew then that I wanted to give back and help others with what I had learned. Starting my business was just a way for me to give back and I never expected that it would take off and do as well as it had.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that with my writing, I stay true to myself and I go with my heart with every word that I write. Although there are plenty of talented writers in the world, I don’t think there is anyone that does it like I do and know that soon as someone picks up a book that I’ve written, they automatically know that it was written by MYSS SHAN. My journey here wasn’t easy. In fact, I had a pretty rough upbringing being that I grew up to a mother that was on drugs, forced to take care of myself, and even become a parent at an early age when I was nowhere near ready. My upbringing however is what makes me so raw as well as relatable to others and it also gives me the strength to deal with challenges that I have faced over the years. In order to keep going, I have to remember how far I’ve come and how far I still have to go and just remember to never give up.

Being successful is never an easy feat, and something that you have to realize is going to always be up and down but all that matters is that when you’re down, that you always keep getting up.

When it comes to Myss Shan, I want for people to know that I’m just like the next person that comes from an adversarial background and that I’m doing what anyone can do if they really want it bad enough. I’ve written 30 plus books, ghost written a few, wrote a few movie scripts, and I’m still creating every day in more ways than one. I have so much in store for my supporters, and for those that have yet to hear about me. A page from my story is being written every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Considering I’ve been living in Atlanta the last 9 years of my life, I would take my best friend first to get our nails and feet down at Buckhead Nail, Toe and Spa that’s one of my most favorite places to get catered to. They have wine, hookah, and they do such a great job. Then we would have breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club, lunch at a spot that I like to refer to as a hidden gem called The Big Chow Grill which is an all you can eat Stir Fry joint thats cheap and delicious, plus they have some of the best drinks. That evening we would most likely fall into Sivas, which has great vibes, hookah, and some pretty decent food. Other days we can hit up the Aquarium, The Trap Museum, Botanical Garden, Stone Mountain, Escape Room, Ponce City Market, and definitely check out some shows. For more food, Oceanaire for some of the best greens and creamed corn I’ve ever had, Old Lady Gang, Divans for good Greek and hookah, Pasha, Mary Mac Tea Room, and Big Daddy’s. Those are all just some of my favorite spots to hang and eat at.

I would like to thank God and everyone that has supported me since I stepped into the industry in 2011 as who I would like to give credit to. Those that always send me kind words, support everything that I do, and spread the word about who I am as an author deserves all the recognition.
