Meet mylez elite

We had the good fortune of connecting with mylez elite and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi mylez, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, a city that definitely has a reputation for being brash, but I believe has a unique passion for itself. There, I developed a love for music and art that extends to my current journey in Atlanta. I picked up the electric guitar as early as 11 years old, consistently practiced and honed in on improving my musicianship. Similar to Atlanta, it’s encouraged to engage in expressing yourself in some type of artform when you’re constantly surrounded by it. Playing guitar allows me to showcase how I feel and interact with others that feel similar.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a music artist that writes and records primarily rock genres ranging from alternative rock, punk, indie, hip hop, metal, etc. I’m a self taught music producer and while I’m still learning, it has allowed me to craft my own style. I create instrumental music at my own home, tracking guitars, bass and sequencing drums in digital audio workspace.
In 2024, I was able to release my first solo instrumental project called “HOURGLASS”. It’s a very guitar heavy, melodic and fun take on what I’d like to see more from the rock genre today. This project was intended to display what I was capable of as a guitarist and songwriter to music enjoyers and other musicians. It was all written and produced by me. With this project completed, I still had desires to collaborate with other local artist.
I currently play in two bands (Mëdusa & Paprika) that I joined in 2024. While it seems like it was easy for me to be in multiple music projects being a lifelong musician, this was not as effortless as it looks. It was hard to find other likeminded musicians that I could be on the same page with. It was also challenging to deal with people who were not as committed to the vision I had in starting a group. Some people would suddenly not respond after having many amicable conversations with each other. All of this can be discouraging but I have learned you must have ironclad confidence in your initial goal and continue to push forward despite setbacks.
I was approached by the band Mëdusa and was asked to join them. At this time, I was feeling frustrated at the lack of success in starting my own music group and believed that this would turn out to be another failed attempt. I was hesitant in agreeing to go to their rehearsal space and wanted to decline their offer, but I decided it was best to at least give this a shot. This ended up being a great decision to say yes to the invite. We instantly clicked on a music level, had similar ambitions and quickly became good friends.
Even though things did not go as planned in my head, things can still work in your favor if you are persistent enough and put yourself out there. Now that I’m on this path, I want to promote freedom and self expression through music. The music I create is an extension of myself that goes beyond where I can physically be at, so I want anyone from anywhere to hear it and for it to be a soundtrack to their journey in accomplishing their goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would walk and wonder around East Atlanta Village just to end up at the nearest Waffle House for eats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my current band “Mëdusa”. A rock band that will be playing all over Atlanta and other U.S cities in 2025. Playing with them has rejuvenated my passion. The genuine love we have for what we do shows in our energy we display in the music we produce. We have a ep titled “Blind” that is currently available on all streaming platforms.
Another artist known as “Paprika” I would love to shoutout. They are an amazing vocalist, musician and creative that is taking part in the local Atlanta music scene. Their most recent single “Take Back Time” is a great, captivating song available on all music streaming platforms. I will be performing with her in Atlanta this year as well.
