We had the good fortune of connecting with Myles Mecredy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myles, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

This quote has resonated with me since the moment I heard it. The power of knowledge is looked over far to often but i firmly believe that knowledge is the greatest gift a person can receive. Its ironic for me though; I’ve never been a good student in school. My mind would always wander to other places. But the places it would wander were other things I wanted to be learning about instead. I didn’t understand when I was younger that I wasn’t bad at school because I was unintelligent, I was bad in school because I was too curious about other aspects of life. While this may be the case for me, I still think school is incredibly import because it still gives people a foundation for learning. It is then up to us to take in the knowledge we are given. If we choose to do so, we gain the power to decide where our lives really go, how we can impact the world, and how we can leave something to be remembered. It will never be a mistake to listen to the world around you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing worth while will ever be easy. If it’s difficult to do them it’s probably the right thing. So for those who want to give up, just remember that if you don’t your life will be better for it. I’ve learned so many valuable lesson in my life and I’m only 23. There are many more mistakes to make and many more lessons to learn, but that’s life. We make mistakes to get better. When I started My brand (Quietboiz) it was just a name as a joke, but then we started getting recognized as that so it stuck. Now I’ve been able to officially brand it and start creating merchandise surrounding the things I love most. Art has influenced a lot of my life. It’s everywhere all the time, in everything we do. Getting to create art of my own with the inspiration of the world is a great privilege.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The week would start with something a little less conventional… drifting!! The racetrack is my favorite place to be. The energy is amazing and I’ve never been around anything that feels more like a community driven activity than drifting/racing. Of course I’d have to follow this up with some of the best ramen I’ve had at ramen chain called Jinya. My mouth started watering as soon as I thought about it. Aside form these I don’t do much else outside of work and spending time with loved ones. I think I’ve spend more time exploring away from my home than I have exploring what’s right here around me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t think of any way I could be where I’m at today without my family. But my family is not just those who I share blood with. My family is everyone close to me. My incredible girlfriend Stephanie Olvera has been the support to every crazy thing I wanna do with my life and motivates me to be the best I can be everyday. My parents have been there at every event cheering me on and believing in me even if they don’t understand it. They raised me to be strong and not give up when things get hard. And my best friends, my brothers, Pharoe Hickson, Brent Chen, Antonio Reyes, Slater cole, and Thomas Riley have helped me keep my head screwed on and have my back like the brothers I’ve always wanted. All of these people are people that have earned a place in my life forever and I will forever be grateful to have such an amazing family.
