We had the good fortune of connecting with Myana Chanel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myana, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson the my career has taught me is to just be myself. Don’t try to be like everyone else but to stay focus and remember that what’s for me, is for me and that nobody can stop me from having it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was born June 19th, 2014 in Monroeville, Alabama and raised in Florida. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. I attend the St. John Catholic School were I am apart of the theater club (currently working on the upcoming production of OLIVER JR.) I am a content creater (Social Media Influencer), I love to cook, I am a vegan, I love giving back, reading my Bible, going to church and thrifting and DIY shopping with my mom. When I graduate school I want to attend Julliard Performing Arts School. The biggest obstacle that I have dealt with has been bullying. I was always bullied about my hair because I am black. One challenge was when I was in school and a little girl who I considered my friend (White) told me my hair was dirty and nappy because I was black so I went home and cut all of my hair off. My mom sat me down and told me the reason she said what she said because she was jealous of my beauty inside and out and that was her way of expressing it me. So the next day I went to school and gave her a hug and reminded her how beautiful she was. It was in that moment that I decided to embrace me in all ways flaws and all. Now I am totally free and happy to be me! My goal is to help other young girls be their true selves without compromising their identity and be who God called them to be,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her shopping, to the beach, go eat at different restaurants. We would go to some of the playgrounds, and museums. I love museums. we would go get our nails and feet done and possibly a massage and find a concert.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say my MOM & DAD. They mean so much to me and have always encouraged me to be myself and to go after anything that I wanted to do. When I would tell them what I wanted to do, they both were like “Okay, hey! let’s start researching to see what the next steps were”. Then they put me in dance classes, modeling classes, theater, they let me start my own clothing line (Myaney Fashions) and they let me write a book. They also allowed me to have social media outlets to get me more exposure. But my mom runs my page LOL
