We had the good fortune of connecting with Ms Sharline Cordner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ms Sharline, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was actually based on my position of being thrown into the deep ocean without a life vest. I was unceremoniously overnight retrenched from my secure job after thirty three (33) years of commitment in the Corporate Sector.
Based on my survival of domestic violence, my son’s tragic experience of on the job injury and PTSD diagnosis in commitment of service to country and loss of my job.
I started my support in research in mental health and professional development, therein after I started an NGO Mental Health Reality Wellness Trinidad and Tobago to actively educate, advocate and restore whilst getting to the heart of the matter.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Change is the only constant in our lives.
No human consideration is permanent.
In light of the stigma attached to Mental Health, it is my passion to continue with the implementation of programs for more support peer groups throughout both islands and engaging the professionals to include the lived experience perspective in all areas of education and the treatment of those who suffer without the financial means or support within our twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and by extension our Region.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
