We had the good fortune of connecting with Mrs. Kelsey Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mrs. Kelsey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe we should take as many risks as we can. Sometimes life can surprise you with the risks that you take. I’ve definitely kept that mindset as I’ve started businesses and ended them.

When I first started my journey in entrepreneurship I was nervous to share and be transparent but once I did, I received confirmation that by me sharing allowed me and others the space to heal.

I have overcome many challenges in my life. I learned that in order to truly have the freedom that I was seeking I had to walk in faith and let God order my steps.

What should our readers know about your business?
I became a yoga teacher to fill the gap in places that black women don’t feel seen in the health and wellness industry. When I first started practicing yoga eight years ago, I didn’t have a black yoga teacher, until two years ago. It can be isolating at times to be the only black woman in certain spaces. I have always based my business on the principal of community and sisterhood. Getting to a place of self acceptance and wanting to foster relationship with other women was not easy. But when you are doing God’s work, it never is. I learned that you have to continuously put yourself out there as a testimony for other women to know that they belong, that they are seen, and that they are welcome in any space that they go into. That is why I started curating community yoga events in Oklahoma City and moving to Atlanta has truly been life-changing with Infinite Light Yoga ( Forever Light Yoga) I want the world to know that they are infinite beings filled with God‘s light and that possibilities are endless for us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you want a brunch I would say try Southern Queens or 5 Church in midtown

Drinks and lunch for Mexican at Azotea Cantina in Atlantic Station

Mal Bar at night for dancing and drinks

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Roosevelt has been one of my biggest supporters. He inspires me and pushes me to dream bigger. He shows me an unconditional love and what it means to truly have a generous heart. He has been a key in my self discovery journey always giving me the space to explore. I love him infinitely.
