Meet Mr. Jay King | Owner of Mr. Jay’s Cosmetics, Hair-stylist, & Make-up Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mr. Jay King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mr. Jay, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor to my success would be Motivation. The motivation to keep going when everything looked like it wasn’t going the right way. The motivation to push myself further, when everyone and everything had pushed me down. And the motivation to stay strong and believe in myself when no one else gave me or my business a second thought or chance. This is why motivation is such an important factor behind my success because without it there wouldn’t have been nothing strong enough to carry me along the way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Mr. Jay King, and I am the owner of Mr. Jay’s cosmetics . An urban brand of makeup line that fits many texture of women and covers every area of beauty from face, lips to eyes. This summer Mr. Jay’s Cosmetics will be presenting a grand opening of Mr. J’s Beauty Lounge out in Atlanta Georgia. The goal was to create a comfortable place where women of melon color can have a spot to find makeup that compliments their skin. With the opportunity of having a wide selection to pick from. Mr. J’s Beauty Lounge will have a makeup bar for my ladies, a quiet place to sit down and have a sip of wine and chat with the girls. Stations where you can get your makeup done, test trial 4 upcoming events, eyelashes, hennas, hair whatever you desire. A stress-free location with a relaxing experiment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come to town we explore the whole city of Atlanta. There’s always an event to catch, always a party to attend and always a good show taking place somewhere. That’s why I love the city it’s always a movie, in real life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a second guess to it, I’ll have to give credit to God for the help of my success. I really had nobody who actually believed in me, nobody who was really showing me the support that I expected and nobody to turn to. After a while, I was okay with that. I prayed and I stayed humble. Opened up my eyes and I seen that my dream was not for everybody and that’s when I focus harder and put more time, money and effort into my own self. And I thank God because every time I turned around I had the opportunity to finance what was needed and the ability to get. Little by little I accomplished what was needed, without needing a loan from anyone else’s hand and because of that I thank God.
