We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Wilkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Jewelry by Morgan in September of 2020. Earlier that year, due to COVID-19, I lost my boutique job which led me to wanting a hobby. I started making bracelets and soon realized that I wanted to branch out into polymer clay. I love creating things and the process that went into making clay earrings. I started selling what I had made and that’s when Jewelry by Morgan was created. I currently have earrings in boutiques across the country and have shipped to multiple states. In the almost 3 years of creating earrings, I’ve sold over 10,000 pieces. My big life/business goal is to take Jewelry by Morgan on the road and participate in festivals across the country. I value myself and my business on keeping my prices affordable and offer amazing one of a kind pieces.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always loved art and the passion behind every piece. In school I loved to paint and draw and just be creative. Once I graduated high school I started college and decided to go for supply chain management. My plan was to use that degree to help me better understand how businesses work and operate. I use what I learned everyday as I navigate my small business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting, I would take them to Toccoa Falls and up Currahee Mountain. My favorite restaurants to take guests is Bigg Daddy’s in Cornelia Georgia, BBQ Shack in Toccoa Georgia, and 211 Main Street in Lavonia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my husband who has always supported and pushed me to follow my dreams. Jewelry by Morgan would not be a thing if it wasn’t for him. He pushed me to start designing jewelry as a creative outlet. I would also love to thank my family who has supported my dreams from the very beginning. Whether that’s buying my first creations, and so many since, or showing up to my very long festival days. I wouldn’t be where I am today without everyone in my life.
