Meet Mood | Mogul

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mood, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The success of fame does not equate to the leverage/ or length of your bank account. I think when most people view celebrities and all of the expensive things that they flaunt we tend to equate those materials with long money. Let me tell you that’s not true for most of your favorite celebs. A lot of them have opened up about their pay in the industry and how they can’t take a break yet because they still have to dish out money to maintain this image that we (their audience) want to see. However, if you can’t budget and manage your money now, those private jets, fancy restaurants, party yachts, and big houses will swallow you and your income up. Don’t forget a lot of this is image-driven and you have to pay to stay image ready. So yes this industry will help you and your family with generational wealth. Yes, this industry will change your life. Yes, this industry will give you fame, but this industry runs on every red cent that’s given to it. Learn the business. Manage your money. Invest in YOU. Build relationships and think more so of leverage building where YOU can be able to call the shots.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multihyphenate so I’m really not into one specific thing. I usually let my art have it’s own interpretation. I think what sets me apart is that I don’t try to be hip or trending for the culture, I literally am the culture and that’s enough for me to dibble and dabble into different sounds, lyircs, films, and more. I’m mostly excited about the new projects I’ve been curating for this next year. I’ve been keeping a low profile because I’ve just been working diligently to give more of myself into my art. My friends and my siblings have been my core through all of this. They’ve seen/ heard the tears, the disappointments, the let downs, and the betrayals… However, they’ve managed to be a light while things seemed to be getting darker. So now they’ll be with me while I reap this harvest, and I’ll know for sure that their intentions for me will always be pure. Nothing is really easy unless you’re born into money and can already set a foundation off of what your parents built. Ha. That wasn’t my life but I am fighting off those curses and actually taking the steps towards believing in myself whole heartedley. Whether an audience is there to cheer me on or it’s just me cheering myself on. I know that I am going to conquer everything that I plan on doing. I’m learning that real life is fun. Real life is my inspiration. Real life is what drives me. Not the 20 second Instagram stories but the actual organic moments that can’t be recorded, because you’re having such a good time living in THAT moment. I’m also realizing that I am my OWN competition. No one else is me. No one else will ever be me. And that’s something to bet on. I just want the world to know that I see you. I hear you. I get you. And I feelyou. I want my work to always reflect from the outcasts perspective. We always get a glimpse of the regular/ trendy way but what about that unique individual who ended being spectacular? We always toss them to the side instead of praising them for being bold and brilliant. I want the outcast to be seen for once, and that’s exactly why I am doing what I’m doing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok, so the rooftop at ponce city market is for sure my go-to. I think it’s just the vibes, the people, and the games that make it fun. I’d also take my friend out to go eat some pho. I think it’s become a new addiction, and I am not about to deny the goodness of those noodles. We also cannot forget about Slutty Vegan and Mr. Fries Man. For activities, I personally love nature so a picnic at Piedmont park or climbing Stone mountain is for sure my go-to. I’d also go to Feels AtL. It’s like an r&b lounge for upcoming artist to show off their skills/ talents. I’d also like to go to Ifly, the indoor skydiving building. I’m not built for the outdoor skydiving lifestyle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my friends and the other black creatives who prove to themselves that they’re capable of doing this. The rehearsals, the writing, the singing, the rapping, the drawing, the design, the hairstyle, the haircut, the makeup, the photo shoot, the modeling, the screenwriting, etc. I’m so blessed to be in a world where I can see faces like me create such beautiful masterpieces. I’m also rooting for you all. I see you all. I’m inspired by you all. I love you all. Stay true to you and who/ what you create for.
