We had the good fortune of connecting with Montrell Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Montrell, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Music makes me happy. When I’m sad, music helps me get through the day.
When I had Covid, music helped me get better. Music makes me happy because it’s free and you can listen to music anytime and anywhere. It doesn’t take a lot to make music. As an artist, if music didn’t make me happy, nothing would.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m proud of myself for coming so far. I’m excited about my album and documentary dropping. I got to where I am today professionally because I kept going. I did end up quitting music a couple of times but I made sure I got back up. It wasn’t easy at all. When you quit, you end up messing your whole path up. You have to think about when you quit, how you’ll recover. What are you gonna do next time to be better? Are you gonna quit again or keep going? You can’t care about what the other person thinks. That was my problem. If you care about what someone thinks, you end up making music for them or anything you do and not for yourself. You have to put in your mind that this was your work and not theirs. When you realize that, you will worry about nothing. Live life for yourself not others.
I’m learning to be patient because with music you have to take your time. You have to wait on a lot of things especially if you really want it. I want the world to know that whenever I make it, remember the things I said to get here, remember to be patient, remember to work. I want people to know that no matter how I make it seem online, I worked to get here. And it wasn’t easy and it’s not gonna be easy. Everything I do is blood sweat and tears. And if you are dedicated, do it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first take them to ride scooters. Park your car in public parking or you could get it towed. I would first go to downtown Atlanta. I would want to go there so we could see all of the restaurants and all the bad biddies. We could ride our scooter and go to slutty vegan. I feel like everyone needs to go to slutty vegan even if you don’t like vegan, you should go. Then after we get something to eat, we would go to the Olympic park. I would want to see a couple statues, take a couple of pictures, then go to Lenox square mall. Then I would want to go to American deli to get some wings. Then we would go to the strip.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first person I want to give recognition to is Allah. Without Allah, nothing is possible. Shout out to my producer DB. Shoutout to my family for the support. Shoutout to my girlfriend for being there.
