We had the good fortune of connecting with Montravon Latise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Montravon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My process in starting my own business was “It is needed!” It was needed for not only myself but for so many other women like myself. I knew that if God implanted the vision in me, He would see me through with bringing it to life. The Accountability Table currently focuses on women in business, new to business or even in the idea stage coming together and holding each other accountable. Family and friends are great to have as a support system and we truly appreciate them but most women in business will find it to be a breath of fresh air when chatting with others who genuinely get it or have gone before you and been successful. We have built relationships and friendships that will last for a lifetime. We have birthed business at The Accountability Table. We have cried, cheered each other on and we genuinely show up for one another. That is needed. I can honestly say I never would have thought that it would begin to grow into what it has and I’ll admit some days I’m so uncomfortable because I know there is so much more in store for it. We’re just getting started and I’m grateful to have an amazing support system alongside me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m in the mix of a number of different things.  I’m currently an analyst.  I’m the founder of The Accountability Table which is a group currently catered towards women business owners. At The Accountability Table, I serve as not only the founder, but as an accountability coach with a focus on mindset and purpose.  It’s really a pleasure to interact with others, hold ourselves accountable and watch each other grow into a better version of ourselves.  Although The Table is currently taking a majority of my time, I also own a hair and wig company that is in the final stages of rebranding and I’m in the start up stages for a non-profit that will cater to those who have a personal relationship like myself with alopecia and other hair loss conditions.  As a cranial prosthesis specialist, I specialize in custom made machine sewn wigs for people with alopecia hair loss who prefer a natural look.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my city (Greensboro, NC) it would really depend on the mood. I love The Borough Market and Bar and Marjae’s Wine Bar. The aesthetic and atmosphere are amazing at both locations and the drinks are equally as good.  For food depending on what we’re in the mood for, it may mean grabbing something quick yet delicious from Wylie’s Gourmet or Gate City Tavern.  If it’s a catered meal we’re in need of PG Catering or Baptiste Catering Service for the food and Kocktails with Re for the signature drinks. A bestie session with my favorite “estie bestie” Payton at Surgeon Skin Studio would be therapeutic and definitely included. Most of my close friends are business owners and/or content creators so stopping by to do a content photo session in the studio with Rashida at Bexclusive Photography would be on the list. Who doesn’t love good photos? Lastly, depending on the season a stroll through downtown to enjoy the growth of the area and the shops available. If time permits we may venture off to some of the neighboring cities like High Point, Winston-Salem and/or Raleigh. My city is pretty dope and there is definitely talent here and so many hidden gems.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God first of course. I don’t know why He trusts me so much, but I’m here and working daily to remain obedient. My mother, she is my everything literally. She is there when no one else is, she listens to the many ideas when they first pop up. She’s my biggest supporter and through her I see what it means to push forward no matter what you’re faced with. She can transition from mother, best friend, business partner, employee and somehow even my boss at times in the blink of an eye. I’m not sure if I tell her enough how grateful I am for her but hopefully she senses how much in reading this.  My tribe. I have a very diverse tribe of amazing women, some that I have known for years since younger days, some that are newer but all of whom pour into me in their own way. My table-mates who sit alongside me at The Accountability Table. I can be vulnerable around them and they have continued to stand with me through the growing pains.  My family is a pretty good mix of crazy yet overall dope and supportive all in one, I love them and it balances us all out somehow.
