We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My success always comes down to my own mindset. In order to keep pursuing my goals for my brand, I had to think of what I was continually telling myself internally. I had to constantly push myself every step of the way and believe that I can conquer anything. Others around you will doubt you’re capabilities but if your mindset is strong, you can surpass any disbelief. By shifting my mind, I was able to let go of negative thoughts and disapprovals of others. I was able to persevere and strive for greatness. Always remember you have the power to define your own success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was always told I was a big dreamer, even as a little girl. I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in fashion but I was always listening to the opinions of others and it made me second guess it. As I got older, every bit of free time I had, I dedicated towards dressing up in outfits, taking photos and building my social media platforms. At first it was only about posting the “latest trends and looks” only to realize there was a bigger vision God had for me.

After 8 years of pursing social media part-time, my mindset changed during Covid and I knew it was time. I was going to pursue what I loved, and I wanted others to join me in this mission to break through the norm and chase after their own dreams. I started posting my journey online for others to see and received an influx of positive comments and messages from supporters. This is when I knew it was bigger than just social media. It was the mission to help and inspire others to believe in themselves. As I continue on this journey, I want to be able to help mentor others on their creative path and be the support they need along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a Canadian girl, Atlanta will always have a special place in my heart! I would definitely recommend going out for Brunch on Sunday, followed by a relaxing picnic at Piedmont Park. If your feeling touristy check out The Illuminarium Museum, Georgia Aqaurium and World of Coca-Cola. Pounce City Market is fun on a weekend followed by dinner at The Juicy Crab. If you are a content creator, make sure to check out Atlanta’s Selfie Museum for photos!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sometimes we forget we are nothing without the people we surround ourselves with. Community is and will always be a key element in my journey. To every brand, creative and supporter I have ever connected with, you will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for believing in my craft and seeing my vision. Thank you for supporting me without even knowing the full story. Without my community I wouldn’t be able to do what I love so freely. To anyone feeling discouraged or lost in their journey, I promise you things will get better and always trust God’s timing.
