We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Streat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, I originally wasn’t looking to start a business. I was looking for a way to naturally heal my skin since every winter I faced extremely dry flaky skin. I began researching herbs and soap bases that were natural and didn’t just sit on top of the skin, but absorbs into the skin. Once I was able to heal my own dry skin I started making soaps per request from family and friends. From there is has grown into a business to where my main focus is to show people that the soaps we use in stores are full of chemicals and does harm to our skin. You can smell good, feel clean, and naturally heal your skin with herbal infused body care products.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I just simply want the world to know that no matter what obstacles you face just keep going! I have had so many set backs since starting my business that on some days I wanted to give up. One phrase that I always keep with me when I get in those moods is that “ 6 months of consistency, can put you 5 years ahead”. Stay consistent , and don’t ever give up!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I don’t really hang out much unless it’s networking at an event. But I will say little 5 points and downtown Atlanta in general is a great place to check out.
