We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Kerik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
At home and with my family, I used to qualify several actions as “Full of goodness”. When I caught a kind action between my kids, I read a piece of news or article that reflected respect and inclusion, cooking nutritious food, listening an inspiring song, a day where we were in contact with nature, a moment when someone helped someone else, using reusable bags instead of plastic bags, donating our clothes and electronics; all of those actions, in my mind were elements that created a “life full of goodness”. In that period in time, back in 2015, I was knee deep into studying several courses and taking certifications in Buddhism, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology and Organizational Leadership and I wanted to create a philosophy that would enhance our well-being with mindful, intentional actions (like the ones that I used to call “full of goodness”…) that would contribute to feel good to do good. Those actions would start with ourselves, then with others and then expand to help the world. That is how the concept came to life.

At the beginning Life Full of Goodness was a blog, then evolved into a website with content and in 2017, I integrated services like custom-made workshops and programs for communities and companies. The last addition to the offering is mental health coaching. Today, Life Full of Goodness’ mission is to INSPIRE more mindful, balanced, and fulfilling lives, EMPOWER humans with tangible tools and strategies to manage stress, enhance wellbeing and boost resilience and SUPPORT continuity and accountability to create and cement positive habits.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m very blessed and proud to have created a business that balances my core values and my personal mission and services individuals with different tools and strategies that allow them to be, feel and act better on every level – with themselves, with others and with the world. Building a business is not easy, it takes time, patience and perseverance. My best advice would be to prototype every move, every development, every tweak in the service. Don’t be afraid to test it out, to do a small version of what you have in mind and be flexible enough to adapt to whatever comes along. I do believe that progress, not perfection will further a business. Lots of courage and vulnerability are needed to create and build connections that will support you with honest feedback and with new relationships that could grow business. Another interesting fact is that I followed my gut, when I got interested in mental well-being, it never crossed my mind how increasingly important it would become to the point that now some employers are offering coaching and therapy services as part of their company benefits.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have received many friends and families since I moved to Atlanta from London. This city is exploding with new places and spaces with a cosmopolitan flair. Of course we have great attractions like the Aquarium, The World of Coca Cola and Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park, and we have beautiful neighborhood towns in Marietta, Woodstock and Roswell full of art, shops and dining experiences. I love to stroll in the Atlanta BeltLine, starting at Krog Street Market for lunch and ending at the Ponce City Market for drinks and dinner. It is always fun to catch a game of our soccer team Atlanta United at the Mercedes-Benz stadium. And for a day in nature, The Chattahoochee River Trails are beautiful and one of my favorite activities is to paddle board at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. For an unforgettable music experience, Sofar Sounds is my favorite, I can’t wait for them to come back after the Pandemic. Favorite restaurants: Rumi’s Kitchen, DelBar, Monkey 68, Salt, Barcelona Wine Bar. And any restaurant on Buford Highway. Favorite Breweries: Gate City, New Realm Favorite ice-cream: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have contributed to my success from my coach and mentor Leslie Lupinsky, to my colleague Michael Jenkins who introduced me to Modern Health where I have been able to support hundreds of employees dealing with the pandemic. To my parents, who taught me that I have the power to choose my response to every challenge and find the gift behind it. To my three kids, who have kept me real and in touch with the new generation’s needs and wants. And especially my husband, who has always supported my choices, has been an equal team player raising our family and has given me lots of strategic business advice, always behind the claim of being “my biggest fan”.
