We had the good fortune of connecting with moneesha thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?
So my business is a black owned vocational school, offering certificates in healthcare. Specifically nurse aid and phlebotomy technician. These roles in healthcare are the foundation of healthcare. Nurse aids are so important when it comes to the assistance of registered nurses and really are the backbone of the tone for patient provider relationships, I got where I am today in business of pure sacrifice and determination, I was blessed enough to buy my first home back in 2016 and I think I was 25 years old. Once I realized what I wanted to do open up a school, I just took a jump of faith and sold my first house to make a profit and bet on me! I told myself “go girl you got it”!

this was the risk I was willing to take to open my business so that’s kind of where I got where I was today business wise.
I learned everything on my own research. I sat in front of the computer day in and day out.
Just trying to figure out how do I do this? What paperwork do I need and just learn business on my own.
I just started doing research and I learn business credit, laws, marketing what ever I needed.
It was not easy , and I mean not at all. very challenging. I realize that it was challenging because i didnt have team or have a decent infrastructure but I was alone. All in knew was that I was not going to be a regular woman.

I had no choice but these are lessons that helped me over my challenges as well as determination.

I want to be a better individual daily. I want to give my son experiences. I want to have experiences for myself so I overcame and still overcoming all those challenges.

once you realize,” it’s just life, you have the ability get back up, start a new day, and digest what don’t kill you really makes you stronger, and you have to keep going this is our world and our reality is what we create it to be. I overcame all of my challenges just by the determination.

Lessons that I’ve learned along the way has been sometimes you have to be selfish with self. I at times have wanted to bring everyone on my road of evolution. I want to help everybody and it kind of kicked me in a butt a lot of the times because I was not selfish with myself and I should’ve been selfish with my decisions and that is the biggest lesson.
Another lesson learned would be when it does come to business your circle has to be what it needs to be to build an empire.
You need a really good circle, never eat alone!

What I would appreciate the world to know about my brand in my story is that if I can do it, you can do it. I am no different from anybody walking this earth. I don’t have any extra money. I didnt have parents that help me financially. I had no over the top 850 credit score. I just put 1 foot in front of the other. I say a prayer and its been attainable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ha! Ok I love eating and one thing we going to do is go eat!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly recognition in your story only goes to God and my son. I been in Atlanta for ten years now, I moved here with 2 suitcases and a 4 year old. Talk about taking walking on faith. God first because there has been moments of adversity that made me believe that i needed to run back to what made me feel comfortable, but I didnt I stood study and God reminded me ” I have no worries, I got you” Over and over again. My son next, because through all my pain, happiness depression , negative bank account he has been right next to me standing in the storm and sunshine with me and I have pulled my self out the quick sand not the mud to give him the world. Thank you son.
