We had the good fortune of connecting with Monaleto C. Irby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monaleto C., can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was providing services for my 9-5 that was receiving awesome reviews. Staff were requesting me to be the facilitator of their courses. I was being asked to share my facilitation skills outside of work at conferences. It was stated once, “you need to do this on your on. You need your own business. You are good at this.” These comments help me start researching and understanding what it would take. It took me a whopping 10 years to finally put some efforts into making it a reality. May 2020 during the pandemic.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Listen, this life for me ain’t been no crystal stair. My career literally started 11 days after graduating from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Al. One of my adjunct professors offered my a position working in Children’s Services at the Calhoun-Cleburne Mental Health Services as a Case Manager. This job afforded me the opportunity to learn real work life skills and participating with a diverse group in different agencies. The movement from that entry level job helped with promotions along the way, landing my first management job 3 years after that in a drug treatment and behavior health program for at-risk and juvenile justice youth. This opened up opportunities to train staff throughout the agency that led to my interest and ability to train and facilitate courses. I have been given opportunities to share at conferences to learn skills that have been beneficial in my growth as a professional. My current position as the Deputy Director of Professional Development with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is a collaboration and combination of all experiences I have that led to this moment. This moment is being the Owner/Facilitator of Motivated Intervention Solutions, LLC. my own company providing services to companies and business to help with Staff Development. Team building ,and Leadership Development. I am excited at every opportunity to be invited to serve as a motivational speaker with Teens and Y0ung adults.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is somewhat of a hard question. I am an introvert at heart, but I like to get out every once and a while. I would definitely make plans for Ponce City Market. The vibe and eating choices are really good. You can’t forget City Winery at Ponce, great artist and good vibe. I would put on the agenda Atlantic Station, because everyone needs to visit for the experience. It’s a definite vibe. King Center Tour, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, High Museum of Arts, Atlanta Aquarium, Botanical Garden, World of Coca-Cola. Visit Little Five Points, Football Hall of Fame. The Real Milk and Honey. College Park Main St, is a great place for eateries and fellowship and an ethnic boost.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have poured into my life and given encouragement over the years. Katrina Roper Smith was a person who gave me an opportunity to share my skill set with a group. She also assisted me in learning how to put together power point slides. This was in 2003. Danielle Williams Hunter (rest well my friend), was a co-worker who stated “Mr. Irby, you could be killing it out there.” She took time and created my first flyer for distribution.
