Meet Mj Larkin | Licensed Associate Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mj Larkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mj, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is “be patient with your process.” I have always been hard on myself. We live in a time where you are expected to just get over things or rush to finish. I am learning to move at my own pace. When I was younger, I had a definite timeline for everything in my life. I no longer have the timeline. I don’t feel the need to rush to the finish line. My goals are not based on what others are doing around me. This quote means to slow down and really experience life.
What should our readers know about your business?
Faith Works Coaching & Counseling, LLC. offers counseling, coaching, parent & womens groups, along with workshops. Our goal is simply to help clients become their best selves. Faith Works was on paper until 2020. I always knew I would be working with women and girls, but I did not know in what capacity. I actually launched in 2014, but I bombed. Terribly lol. I was not prepared to run a business. I took the leap but did not prepare. As a new entrepreneur I am learning the true meaning of “trust the process”.Take your time, but do the work. I am most proud of the fact that I did not give up when I wanted to. I hope when someone reads my story, they are motivated to walk in their purpose. Yes, it is hard but it can be done.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am originally from south Georgia and I have lived in the metro area for six years. I am still learning my way around. I love the beltline. I am a true foodie, so we are definitely going to hit up a few restaurants. My favorites are: Roc South, The Counter, and Folk Art Restaurant.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to my business coach Jannina Warren for helping me build my foundation. A big thank you to my friends and family for believing in me and encouraging me along the way.
