We had the good fortune of connecting with Mitchell Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mitchell, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason I chose to pursue an artistic or creative career was because I want to make an impact on the future generation that is coming behind me. Also, I would love for my music to be known and branded as a household or common name. I love to
Write music that everybody can sing Rock to. Another reason I chose to pursue music, is because I love the way that it impacts the heart and how music can seemingly bring people out of a dark space and also to help them find a better way. Music is universal and it is something that everybody can take apart in no matter what genre it is.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a creative musical director and writer who has had over 26 yrs of experience with choral directing and arrangements and over 10years of writing music. I am currently the director of a community choir that I founded in 2016. The one thing that makes me stand out from others is I am a firm believer of singing and writing my own music. While there is nothing wrong with singing and enjoying the likes of other artist, it’s just unique when it’s your own. My journey wasn’t easy and the road to being an independent artist isn’t for the weak, I take pride in my tenacity, will power, strong will and consistency to keep going and to not give up. There has been so many that has told me that I would never be successful, I would never impact others in the world but I’ve spent years proving them wrong. I’ve lost friends along the way, I’ve spent many nights crying and praying and wondering when my time would come. I’ve learned that if this is my dream and my desires then I have to put in the work to become successful. My mentors taught me the way and they guided me on my journey but it was ultimately up to me to succeed. I’m still learning, I’m still perfecting my craft but one thing I would tell the next generation is all things are possible if you only believe. There is always room at the table for you regardless of how big or small the table may seem. I also want others to know that building your brand is not about how much money you make but it’s about how many steps you take to get closer to your goal.
