Meet Missy Schmidt | Owner/CEO & Master K9 Instructor/Behavioral Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy Schmidt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Missy, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Most people think that we only train dogs, however, we train people alongside their dogs and help them to become leaders. All dogs need a leader, just like all dogs need training, because they are driven by pack instincts. Our primary focus is strengthening the relationship between dogs and their owners, helping them to become one through obedience training. Without obedience, you have nothing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Superior K9 Training Academy is a comprehensive dog training facility. What sets us apart from others is that we know that dog training is not “one size fits all” and requires a tailored approach. As a result, all of our training programs are fully customizable, based on factors such as your dog’s age, breed, and personality.
We got to where we are today by producing consistent results and maintaining close relationships with our clients.
Our clients and their dogs become family.
One of our biggest challenges was the 2020 pandemic due to people not being able to travel or come to training. We overcame that challenging time through maintaining our client relationships by checking on them and their families. We also made special arrangements for clients based on the social distancing guidelines whenever anyone needed our services.
The uncertain economy comes with challenges as well, as sometimes people are not able to afford training or go out of town as often. The average person has an extremely busy lifestyle as well, which can result in time being taken away from training their dog. As a result, we try to work with our client’s budgets and schedules to the best of our ability.
Through the years, we have learned that every client and dog learns differently, which is why we structure our training programs based on each individual clients needs. We have also discovered that the dogs owners are often more difficult to teach than their dogs. Every person learns differently, so we have to teach each person differently. it’s a team effort to make each dog and owner duo successful.
We want the world to know that every dog needs training and they need it before behavioral problems begin in order to be set up for success. However, we can help dogs even after behavioral problems have begun, as that is one of our specialties. Dogs thrive when they know what is expected of them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would take them to the amazing Georgia Aquarium and to eat at the wonderful Fogo De Chao.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to my Lord and Savior, my loving family, and my loyal clients.
