Meet Miranda Motley | Portrait and Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Motley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miranda, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up, I remember always having a disposable camera at my disposal (pun intended). My grandpa always had a fresh one waiting for me whenever I visited him. We would make special trips to Walmart to drop off the film to be developed. When I was older, I got my first digital camera. Then I bought my first DSLR and the rest is history. In short, photography is an innate passion that I have always kept close. I get to frame people’s memories.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a portrait and wedding photographer. I have to say that I favor weddings, but love any opportunity to work with new clients. I think what most drastically sets me apart from other photographers, is that on my clients wedding day, I strive to do whatever I can to make their day perfectly magical. On top of being a photographer, I am a hype-man, expert dress fluffer, seamstress, etc. I go above and beyond the extra mile and to make sure that my couple’s day runs as smoothly as possible. Even if that means I ver away from solely photographer duties.
I am where I’m at because of my amazing support systems and my drive to capture precious memories for my clients. The most difficult obstacle I’ve encountered is getting footing in a new area and building my clientele base. But thanks to my amazing clients and their word of mouth, I’ve been able to turn my passion into a career.
Motley Moments strives to go above expectations and make your experience beginning to end as smooth as possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am very new to the Atlanta area. But if someone came to visit me, day one we would most definitely go to Ponce City Market. I LOVE industrial vibes, and Ponce never disappoints. We would end the evening on the rooftop with drinks of choice while watching the Atlanta skyline. Day two I’d love to take them to Thrill Korean BBQ. After the all we can eat, we would most definitely have to walk it off at Sugarloaf Mills and end the day with a movie.
Day 3 I’d go to the belt line and do a little shoot with the street murals. Like I said, I’m new to the area, so we’d have to drive and find a new local favorite restaurant to try out!
Day 4 I’d hike the ruins at Sope Creek. Of course take some glamor shots, maybe visit the Zoo Atlanta or the Georgia Aquarium.
To be honest that’s about all the ideas I have. But I’d love any recommendations.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to send a shoutout to Yo Christian, owner of Grapefruit Photo. Yo has been my mentor the past few years, and strives to help me enhance my profession and skills. She keeps me accountable, and teaches me something new every time we work together.
