We had the good fortune of connecting with Minister Melissa Swift and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Minister Melissa, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of SHE Walks LLC. is having faith and trusting the plan God had declared over my life. I remember Pastor Mike McClure Jr. of Birmingham, Al said these words “you cannot walk by faith and have fear”. Since that moment, I decided the fear had to go. I decided I no longer wanted to be bound by fear.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder and CEO of SHE Walks LLC. SHE Walks LLC is a virtual, faith-based life coaching service to women and mentorship for teenaged girls.

SHE Walks LLC was created to coach women in the area of walking in and with purpose while lacking fear. SHE Walks LLC foundation is based upon Biblical Scripture. In fact, SHE Walks LLC is rooted in the Book of John. The Book of John chapter five verses five throughout nine discusses the healing pool, better known as the Pool of Bethesda.

One crucial notion to understand when it comes to John 5:5-9 and the Pool of Bethesda, not all disabilities are physical. There are a number of women who have disabilities that are mental and emotional. As a result of these disabilities, a lot women have become paralyzed. By paralyzed, I am referring to mental and emotional bondage. As a result of mental and emotional bondage, many women find themselves in a place where they lose hope and are no longer able to thrive. Ultimately, what would have just been a dark season turns into cycles.

Birthing SHE Walks LLC. was everything but easy. During the process, I faced many storms. In fact, I truly found my purpose in the midst of my storm.

I am grateful for the losses, lessons, hurt and pain. All of these things contributed to where I am today, and it was all worth it. I would not change a thing. There was no luck on this journey. It was just God.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a funny question (haha). My Bestfriend is actually from Atlanta, GA, and her name is Andrea Little. Whenever she is in town, we always go to a restaurant called Purple Onion or Fairfield Seafood. She loves those places. A good time for us is eating and taking naps. However, when she returns, we will definitely have to visit Rock City Church and Top Golf. I also may throw some axe throwing on the itinerary.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The book that changed my life for the better was not only the Bible, but it was also a book called Lost and Found by Sarah Jakes Roberts. I also will have to shoutout my father the late Reverend Elbert Swift Jr., my mother Constance Swift , my sister Arrissia Walker, and my brother Elbert Swift Jr. for all contributing to the woman I am today. I cannot forget my mentor Tameka Ann Newton she is my rock and my spiritual big sister! I love them all.
