Meet Minasemma Ramon | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Minasemma Ramon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Minasemma, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After going through an early term pregnancy, I realized I needed to take care of my mental and physical health. I’ve worked in retail for sixteen years for many retail chain companies. I was used to working in stressful environments having to perform job duties for unqualified bosses. I worked so hard in the retail industry and have been overlooked for many promotions due to discrimination. I knew it was time to make a change and bet on myself! After the pregnancy, I knew I could no longer tolerate those working conditions and no one should!
I started this business to help women find the balance between work, life, and personal confidence through skincare. Skincare products that women can use at home to relax, refocus, and reflect on themselves in their personal space. I want these women to feel confident, sexy, and strong within their natural skin. These skincare products are all-natural, vegan, and downright good for the skin!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Empress Allure apart from other brands are the ingredients that are used. Many of the big brands are not offering as many or any all-natural ingredients. We are black-owned also which helps to use ingredients that help African American skin any all other skin types. I am most excited about the future of the company and the journey that we’ve set thus far. We’ve had customers from almost every culture use our skincare and have heard so many great reviews! I started this business in 2020 and I’ve used the power of social media to help get my business started. Along, with the traditional word-of-mouth from customers, family, & friends.
It took quite some time to get the social media started. It’s like cracking the shell of a walnut, you have to find the edge that gets your business out there to people who want it. We started off with a social media following of zero and are now over one hundred. We are still growing! I’ve overcome the challenges by setting content for the week. We’ve recorded more videos to assist on social media pages to go over the product. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to keep going! In the beginning, it felt like I was hitting a brick wall with all the work that I put in but consistency brings reward. I was a woman that worried about career first and mental health second. It is not selfish to relax and refocus. My brand is all about helping women understand that having time for yourself is necessary!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Connecticut! The best places to visit in CT are Mohegan Sun & Foxwoods Casino these are great escapes in CT! I live towards the shoreline so we have really great beaches. I really like rollercoasters we are close to Six Flags New England and Six Flags Great Adventure. Two different parks that offer so much FUN! So much thrill for the weekend you will never be disappointed.
We are very close to New York City and it is incredible! In NY, the food is what keeps me going back! If your in Manhattan, Tao (Asian bistro) is a great restaurant if your in the mood for quality sushi, “tokyo” style-steak, and black pepper chili chicken! My mouth is watering thinking about Tao. If your looking for “A taste of Puerto Rico”,Sofrito, is exactly where you want to be. This food will make you think about relocating to Puerto Rico. For dessert, Junior’s Cheesecake in Brooklyn, NY is the way to go!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the love of my life, my husband, for always encouraging me to believe in myself and take the leap of faith and become an entrepreneur. My big brother Alain for helping me see the light through our many conversations. He’s always told me that I could be running my own business by now (laughs, thank you big bro!). My in-laws for putting up with the many tester products I’ve had them try before I sold it. The mentorship I’ve received from one of my favorite bosses of all time Brianna. She has witnessed my success in retail and has lead me to become an e-commerce entrepreneur. The Social Sales Lab, which is an online ads school that teaches you how to market your product or service through Facebook & Instagram ads. Alexis & Tony, for participating in my brand through videos and posts when using the skincare products. Danielle, who has encouraged me in so many ways and a big supporter of Empress Allure. All of my friends & family that have sent me encouraging words throughout my journey! Thank you all for EVERYTHING!!! I would not be where I am today if I did not have my friends and family to lean on and ask for encouragement.
