We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Van Pelt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It’s funny how things parallel sometimes. I found that the success of my brand happened due to the findings in my life.
Let me explain. I spent portions of my life and career trying to go it alone. In other words, I was afraid to ask for help. I did this out of fear, pride, and oftentimes foolishness that I thought I’d figure out everything independently.
I found myself feeling empty and frustrated. How many people have experienced that?
By having good coaches, I found strength in asking powerful questions and surrounding myself with the right people to guide me. This is exactly how I work with my clients. I don’t “fix”, I guide. Along the way, my clients develop the answers they seek by asking good questions and discerning the answers.
In addition to that, the success of my brand is strong because of the core values I bring to the table in authenticity, truth, and respect. When a man works with me, they can expect to have direct but caring conversations.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My coaching practice offers 1-on-1 coaching and I’m currently developing content for men’s small groups and mastermind groups where like-minded individuals provide peer mentoring and help each other achieve their goals. I’ve found that men like being in a safe environment where they can talk freely with and learn from other men. In fact, that is something that I strongly encourage because there is such a breadth of expertise and understanding among men that they don’t always recognize. It’s important that men know that they don’t have to keep everything buried inside themselves and that they are not alone on their life journeys. I encourage men to reach out to me and I always offer a complimentary call to see if we are a good match for a coaching relationship or if I can help them make other connections.
The most important thing that sets me apart in what I do is the ability to simplify and understand with empathy what so many men are going through. Many men go through life not feeling understood and not wanting someone else to “fix” them. I take the time to listen and develop a personalized coaching plan that allows a man to find his own answers and discover what is truly in his heart. I won’t try to fix a man, but I will definitely walk alongside him to help him find his own solutions and a new path if that’s what he is seeking. We all go through challenges and setbacks in our lives. It’s important to note that these challenges and setbacks can be the catalyst to the next great thing that happens in your life. As part of my coaching, I help people realize this, so they can use those challenges to build the lives they want.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge sports fan, so if the Braves are in town, we would spend time at The Battery and catch a baseball game. I don’t venture out of my side of town to eat too often, but for a good steak, we would head to Mac’s Chophouse on the Marietta Square. Another favorite spot to take family and friends is Modena Ristorante Vinoteca in Marietta.
How could you go wrong by seeing the Pandas at the Atlanta Zoo or taking a trip to the beautiful Georgia Aquarium. If we have any time left, it’s always great to see a Broadway Performance at the iconic Fox Theatre.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people to thank for where I’m at today. However, one person stands out among everyone: my wife, Jill. 2023 will be 27 years of marriage for us, and I can’t think of anyone I would have wanted to do life with more than her.
