We had the good fortune of connecting with Miink Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miink, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The day I realized I wanted to work for myself was during my time managing high-end retail. While I was grateful for the experience, I found myself feeling burnt out, craving more freedom and control over my career. Deep down, I always knew I wanted to be a cosmetologist—it’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid.

Transitioning from a salaried position to becoming an independent contractor took a lot of thought and careful planning. However, I felt confident in my decision to leave retail and step behind the chair. It was a leap of faith, but one I was ready to take

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the beauty industry, it’s essential to figure out your lane. From the start, I knew I wanted to specialize in short hair and precision cutting. The knowledge I have today comes from assisting talented stylists who shared the same passion and expertise in this area.

What sets me apart from other stylists in my generation is my dedication to healthy hair. I pride myself on being one of the few stylists today who truly understands and values the art of precision cutting and short hair care. For me, healthy hair isn’t just a trend—it’s timeless and everlasting!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It’s Atlanta, baby! There’s always something happening in this city—it’s a vibe all its own.

As a Taurus, I’m always hungry (seriously!), so any night out has to start with a great dinner. I’m obsessed with pasta, so Italian food is my go-to. Two of my favorite spots are Sotto Sotto in Inman Park and 246 in downtown Decatur. The ambiance, the flavors—it’s unmatched.

When it comes to nightlife, Atlanta never disappoints. The parties here don’t stop until eight in the morning! I love hitting up day parties at Suite Lounge or spending Sunday nights at Bamboo.

And let’s not forget the BeltLine—during the week and especially in the summertime, who doesn’t love grabbing drinks and food while soaking in the vibe? Atlanta just knows how to keep the energy alive

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout to the incredible stylists I had the privilege of working under during my first three years in Atlanta. I gained so much knowledge and insight from them, and their guidance truly shaped my journey as a cosmetologist.

Thank you to:
