We had the good fortune of connecting with Michellean Gay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michellean, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
No matter how much we try to avoid negative events, they always seem to find us. When something bad happens we often have the tendency to soak in our own misery and think we don’t have what it takes to keep going.

These are moments when everyone around us looks so happy, everything seems so easy for them, and here we are, doing our best while life kicks us again and again. It’s hardships that make us stronger and help us grow. It might sound crazy, but the best approach would be to be thankful for every difficulty because it gives you a chance to prove yourself and at the end of the day to be your own hero.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
That’s what sets me apart from other agencies.

The answer is quite a bit! According to Tony Robbins, “it is our decisions, not our circumstances, that ultimately shape the quality of our lives.” When you are feeling defeated or frustrated, you can choose to take the first step toward changing your situation.

To paraphrase another great leader, Theodore Roosevelt, “nothing in the world is worth having or doing unless it involves effort, pain, and difficulty.” The best things in life will not be given to you. When you want to give up, what you need to do is get back in the game and insist on getting everything you want.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The girls’ weekend trip would be to California.

Have a good time with the food and the nightlife.
The scenery and the luxury experiences will entice me to stay at the SIXTY Beverly Hills Hotel. Then I’ll go to Ms. B’s M & M Soul Food in Englewood. Then I’ll return to Rodeo Dale Drive and shop where I can afford to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dawn Taylor

Dawn worked alongside me as my first photographer, assisting actors and models with their photo shoots. Her photos helped some actors and models land their first roles, but the rest was done by the actor and model. However, it was the first image that got them the callback.
