Meet Michelle Victor | Chandler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Victor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had an interest in controlling my own destiny. I am a risk taker and self motivated. These parts of make me who I am contributed to the decision behind starting my own business. I made the decision to start Victor Haus after my first child was born, as a stay at home mom to bring in extra money, my passion/ interest in candles, and my interest in running a business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is from other chandlers is that I have eight years of experience in my field, my knowledge of candles is deep, I am self-learned, I have tested several waxes on the market/wicks/ and made my own fragrance blends. I am most proud of my knowledge of the craft and how I supportive of other small businesses/ chandlers that I have in my network. I sincerely enjoy developing custom candles for private label clients and brands. My success was made through much trial and error and I have sacrificed to gain the success that I have earned. I overcame the obstacles by pressing forward to broaden my knowledge which is fueled by my genuine passion for what I create. If I had to give someone first starting in this industry advice it would be to set goals, if they change- embrace it, never work so much that it becomes unenjoyable and only take on projects that only align with your values. I am not only a mother of two, and a wife; I persevere and I put love and passion into everything I do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off, I live with my best friend, Chase Victor (my husband). If we had a week alone without the kids, we would go to brunch at Fellows Cafe in Roswell. I would order a French 75, the Fresh pastry, and a Fellows Board. After brunch, we would visit Doll’s Head Trail, in Atlanta and see all the art installations. Afterwards we would stop at Woody’s for the best Philly Cheese Steaks in town. Next, we would do some light shopping at Ponce City Market. Lastly, we would get dinner at Carrol Street Cafe in Cabbage town. I love that Atlanta has so many unique neighborhoods and I would love to show him a little part of every one of them.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Theresa Rivera, has supported me throughout my life. She has supported my decision in starting my own business by always being present when I need her. She has showed me support by investing her time and resources into my growth. She has been at every market I have run, helped me make candles, refer me to new clients, hosted candle making workshops, and (most importantly) always been there to listen and provided me with unbiased advice.
