We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Lanzilatti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I moved to Atlanta from Pittsburgh, I had left everything behind. Friends, family, and my career in the medical field. Being pregnant on the move led my husband and I to the decision that I would be a stay at home mom. In a way, I had lost myself. I needed an outlet of some sort. I have always been creative, and decided to invest my energy and creativeness into our home. I began to slowly make our house a home. I didn’t realize that I had a passion for interiors until moving here!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I stumbled upon my passion accidentally. I had no idea I even had an eye for design. Like I mentioned before, I decided to focus my energy on making our house a home. Through that, I realized I have a love of interiors and how your home tells a story about you. I also discovered my love of painting. I have sold some paintings thanks to my following on Instagram (@littlelattihouse). Some days are easier than others, but is anything ever easy with two young kids? I describe my design aesthetic as grand millennial. I love to incorporate pieces with a history. I’ve always had an appreciation for “old” things. I love the idea that they have a story to tell. It doesn’t hurt that they are made so well. Adding modern touches to the traditional ones is just such a beautiful juxtaposition.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With two small kids, we don’t get out as much as we would like to. However, I love downtown Woodstock and downtown Marietta. We love the history behind these towns and the cute boutiques and eateries they have. The Georgia aquarium is also a must see! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband deserves all the credit! He always encourages me to do what I love. He also endures my crazy Facebook marketplace addiction,. This obsession with finding unique antique treasures leads to road trips with two kids in tow to go pick up a chest, and a basement full of furniture.
