We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The most important decision I have ever made concerning my business was to stay in business no matter what I faced! I needed to be the answer to my communities problems at all cost! I decided to make a stand and stand on it!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
3 Rivers is the first minority owned trucking school in the state of Georgia. We pride ourselves in our ability to help others achieve their goal in logistics, by obtaining their Cdl. I would say what got me here today in business is my never back down attitude, I never accept no there has to be a way I just need to find that way. Being the woman to do this has not been easy, no one ever wakes up and says I’m going to be the first at anything I believe we just find out along the way we are the first to do it and then we push even harder to pave the way for others to have a place in this industry. But I overcame all of the negative and hard stuff by not looking at the problem ahead but the lives ahead that I’m responsible for helping change. One of the greatest lesson I’ve learned in this is not everyone wants the help but as long as you offer the help you have done your job. I want the world to know our passion to assist a hidden community behind the wall to get their lives back in order and end recidivism.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would tell them to visit Downtown Atlanta. I love going downtown it has so much to offer so much history.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out all the students that make this dream a reality every day
