We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Griffin-Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what do you want your legacy to be?
My legacy, or what I want people to remember about me, is that my heart was always open. I was a natural giver. Whatever God blessed me with, whether gifts or resources, I always shared and wanted to bless others. I have always wanted and prayed to be in a position where I could be blessed to be a blessing.
And that is my legacy: that Michelle Griffin-Carter was blessed to be a blessing to others. I have blessed others, whether it was through tutoring, mentoring, teaching, writing, or simply being a safe space for those in need.
This what I hope to leave behind, a legacy of kindness, generosity, and an open heart, always ready to give and support others in any way I could.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a new business owner, I founded MGCBOOKS LLC just over a year ago, and the journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Finding business funding and identifying tutors who align with our company’s values, brand, and clients has been a struggle. Despite limited resources, we successfully funded our business and continued to grow.
We are excited to announce the launch of our first-ever online summer enrichment program, which will run from July 8th to August 5th. Additionally, we are proud to sponsor five students from Liberia, who will attend the four-week intensive program for free. Although this expense is not fully covered, MGCBOOKS LLC is committed to giving back and providing access to quality educational support for everyone.
As a special educator, I am dedicated to ensuring that all students, from children to adults, receive the educational support and resources they need to achieve their academic goals. I have built a company that offers differentiated instruction for students at various educational levels, helping them achieve academic growth and success.
Moreover, as an author and educator, I have created a company that assists writers in the book writing process and in generating or increasing sales. We also support learners in achieving academic success through personalized learning approaches.
At MGCBOOKS LLC, we believe in the power of education and the importance of giving back to the community. We are committed to making a positive impact and helping students and authors reach their full potential.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
After unpacking, we would have lunch at my favorite local restaurant “Founding Farmers.” Take a walk around the area and relax before dinner. Dinner would be at a cozy restaurant “The Hamilton in D.C.
We would take a night tour of the national mall to see the mountains illuminated. Day two would be breakfast at Busboys and Poets. A visit to the Smithsonian and the African American History Museums.
Day three and four we visit cool spots in Arlington or Alexandria Virginia. A quick trip to Baltimore and enjoy Phillips Seafood. Day five and six visit nice places in Maryland, Ted’s Bulletin, do some local shopping and catch a movie.
For our last day we can go to the farmers market or nearby park for a stroll and have a new adventure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am proud to share my success story of overcoming significant challenges and achieving my dreams. As a new educator, I experienced hurt and loss when I lost my position. However, I was able to heal and ultimately blessed to teach in the school district I had always aspired to be a part of.
In addition to my teaching career, I have been able to write and publish two books, “Whatcha Doin Ivy Rayne?” and “The Paradigm Shift, ” and I started my own business, MGCBOOKS LLC, which provides tutoring and literary services.
I am deeply grateful to God for my family and for blessing me with the gift of writing and a passion for teaching and helping others. I am especially thankful to my parents, who instilled in me a strong faith in God and the perseverance to overcome obstacles. It was my faith in God that sustained me and my family, enabling us to endure and rise above the pain, criticism, and challenges we faced due to mistakes poor decisions, or a lack of material possessions.
Through faith determination, and the unwavering support of my loved ones, I have been able to turn my trials into triumphs, and I am committed to continuing to inspire and help others through my work and my story.
