We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is a hard thing to honestly master. I had it all figured out before I had my two beautiful babies, Adalyn & Callan. Before kids, it was easy to balance everything because I was only responsible for myself. I was able to work longer hours if I wanted to, sleep in more, make more plans with friends, & have many date nights. My work life balance now has changed drastically! I am very present when it come to my kids. I always knew that I only wanted to be intentional with my time with them and how I spend it with them. Therefore, juggling work, life, and everything in between has been harder to maintain.

I knew that I could never be a full-time stay home mom. I need to feel productive, be pro active in my what I love doing for my job & career. I thoroughly enjoy what I do. It gives me great satisfaction when I can make a difference in my clients life with how I can transform the way they feel & look with just a simple touch.

I have a tremendous amount of help from families that I am so grateful for. With their help, love, & support, I am able to have some balance. There are days when maintaining a balance is completely out the window, but I realized that without it, I would not be 100%, and for that, I can’t be 100% for my kids, my family, my friends, and my work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I truly feel that lashing is an art. There are so many ways to create a beautiful look for every unique client. I cater more towards a soft natural look for everyday wear. Even if one client has a little more fluff than the next one, the added extra density & volume will still balance the overall face and not look too busy for the eye area. I like to focus on what’s important for the client as well, which is the health of their natural lashes. I will only lash what I feel is best for their natural lashes, even when the client request for something wild and can not be achievable.

I also use high quality products, such as the adhesive & the lashes itself. I have invested and bought tons of lashes to try to see if I like this kind or that kind, and the more expensive one always seem to win my heart. The lashes feel nice, softer, the overall flow of the lashes, how the lashes lay/placed, it all comes together to form a beautiful balance set.

When my clients sit up and I hand them the mirror, when they tell me “oh wow, these look amazing”, I feel good about myself and how my skills can have such a huge impact on how someone else feels about themselves – it makes it all worth it!

As I have been lashing for 8+ years now, it started when I was working at the salon. I realized I wanted to be able to do more, make more money, and have more control of my hours. So I decided to rent out a small room at my friends photography studio to juggle some days there, and some days at the salon. I told myself that as long as I make enough to cover rent for the studio space, I will be ok. So I made it for work for about 6 months. I then brought a home with my husband, and decided to use the extra space for a lash room. It couldn’t have been a better transition. I also quit my salon job, to lash full-time at home at this point. I never looked back.

Going on 5 years of not working for anyone, I LOVE IT! Me and Jennifer (my sister/business partner) we own a small loft space that is the perfect size for us and our lovely clients. We have continue to gain more clients and grow the business together. We have trusted each other and the process through all this.

Working for yourself isn’t always the easiest, but its worth it – Sometimes in life we may not know what is going to happen next for us, but I rather know I tried and took a chance, than to think about it, wasting time on the unknown.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely show them around West Midtown, as I used to live over there, so all the new developments such as the Epicurean Hotel, Rooftop LOA, Starmetal, & The Chattahoochee Works.

678 Korean BBQ in Duluth is a must! For Thai Food, my favorite spot is Tum Pok Pok in Chamblee.

Going to a braves game at the Truist Park would be fun or seeing a concert at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to “shoutout” to my husband, Scott, for believing that I can achieve whatever I put my mind to. We made the decision that I could use an area in our new home to lash from home. It was the best decision ever for 2 years. It gave me the flexibility to work from home.

During this time, my sister, Jennifer moved home from TN, so I decide to teach her how to lash so she can take over my clients when I got pregnant. She literally learned to lash in 5 months and was great at it! From then, I would have to say, she’s my ride or die – my business partner.

To all my supporters, my families & fans, without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.
