We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle D. Saxton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle D., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially after starting my courier service (Mia’s Savvy Courier Service) and my grief support group (M.I.A. “Missing In Action” Grief Support Group) in 2017 I vowed to only work diligently in these two endeavors. But then COVID hit in 2020 like most, people found their gifts and talents and became entrepreneurs and my thought process wasn’t any different. Because I work so closely with those who are struggling with grief, anxiety and depression through my grief support group, I want to extend the platform for those who had been in bondage and has gone through their losses and now are winning. A new birth of a TV talk show/Podcast came to mind. The talk show would then be named The “Now What?” Show w/ Mia & Mr. B, yes a girl and guy host. This segment would emphasize on those who turned their pain into gain. Show actually began in the fall of 2021 and since then our show has been nominated amongst my family, friends and other media peers, The “Now What?” Show w/ Mia & Mr. B was awarded the Best Talk Show 2022 and 2023. How amazing is that? Look out for episodes in 2024.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I first would gather up the things my guest really love to do then incorporate those things. I would then bring them out their shell because you know in Texas we do Big things. I definitely would take them to wonderful areas to shop and eat from Galleria to the Woodlands. Because I love wine, a day to a winery in Pearland. Texas has so much to offer and enjoy on vacations. All I can do is warn my guest to lace up their bootstraps and hold for the ride..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As always, I give credit to God first after all it’s nothing about me. I want to thank my only daughter Bianca B. Saxton as my CEO of my Courier Service, make up artist and hair stylist (my right hand). I want to thank my partner Bobby Brisker for being the best co/host a show could ever have. The substance he brings to the show is incredible. If it had not been for my family and true friends continuing to cheer me on and not giving up on me, the support they offered whether it was monetary, time or encouraging words I couldn’t have made it. I thank those who saw my hard works in the community and gave me recognition and awarded me Michelle D. Saxton Day in the City of Houston, Joe Biden Lifetime Presidential Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanities, and even became Ms. Texas Plus America 2022. So as you can see I’ve been busy but again I thank my community for loving on me.
