We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Waters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My first business was based on my personal experience as an athlete. Playing college sports altered the path of my life and exposed me to a new world. So I set out to help HS athletes get scholarships as a way of keeping them on track academically. To date, we have helped thousands of athlete reach their full potential on and off the field or court.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Phase 1 Sports was my first real business. I’ve learned so much over the 20-year span and now I use that experience in all of my entrepreneurial ventures.

Phase 1 Sports is my “passion” business, helping athletes achieve their goals is very rewarding.

Currently, I also own a logistics company in Southern California that has been operating for over 5 years.

My new passion is to help entrepreneurs start and scale their businesses. Currently, my focus is Business Coaching, Educational Events, and Courses. It’s time to give back and help other business owners accomplish their goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would go to Olive Mediterranean Lounge for live music and good food. Then we would make a stop in Downtown Las Vegas at Barry’s Steakhouse. Great vibe and even better food!
We would have to stop at the new Resort World Casino and hang out at Eight Gigar Lounge. Even though I don’t smoke, it’s a vibe.

Against my better judgment, we would have to hang out on the Las Vegas Strip, probably near City Center.
After hours, now it’s time for Roberto’s. The most authentic Mexican food in Las Vegas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I didn’t know the term back then, but it was my first Business Coach Anna Siefert. She was the first to believe in me and she spent years helping me develop as a business owner. She was the Director of Nevada Micro-Enterprise. To this day, over 20 years later, we still have a relationship.
