We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Swift and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I would like my legacy to be remembered as a person who always done people fair and conducted himself respectfully and genuinely. VERY transparent and have a real open honesty about life and the people who have come in and out of it. Consistent and always available and will sacrifice my last if it would keep another person afloat.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born and raised in Miami Florida from a city called Carol City now Miami gardens. I moved to Atlanta in 2004. I am a full time employee within the City of Atlanta Solid Waste Department I have been there 4 years. I have been a professional photography for a little over 8-9 years. It started off as a hobby at first, but when I realized I was really great at it I began to invest in myself. Was it easy? Very when you have a support system who believes in your vision. What is difficult is finding clients who really would like professional photography work now that cellphones are just as good. Being from Miami Florida I always had the hustle and drive so that was never a problem in the 17 years I have lived in Atlanta. I learned that you have to be careful when doing work for clients who know you, they seem to want work done for a low price not respecting the true business side and that this is a REAL business and prices do very, like family members and close friends of friends. The more I began to perfect my craft the busier I became landing more clients but the problem was they would never give me credit once they posted my work on their social media pages to help support and flourish my business which has become a small issue as far as getting the name heard I fixed those issues with watermarking my work so people will know who did it. Being a photographer has its perks and it’s mishaps but you have to be mindful and strategic in excepting the right clients. I know I speak for a lot of photographers when I say all money is not good money especially last minute next day clients and young artist who want music videos in neighborhoods where the whole block has an army brigade of weapons. I always turn those kinda clients down. For the most part I love what I do for the City of Atlanta and the memories I capture for it’s citizens! I AM M1011 PHOTOGRAPHY and Media!
