We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting this pageant system was to create a fair and open system for women of all ages. My mother, who I co-direct with, and myself wanted to create an atmosphere where women could come and freely be themselves and not feel like they have to put on a different persona to compete for our system. We are a community service based system that looks for WORKING Queens to help us make a difference in the community.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
By day, I work full time in the corporate world in the field of Property Management. By night and weekends, I operate my online dessert company, Miss J’s Sweet Factory.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Mexican food and found one of the best spots in Marietta called Birria El Gordo. The food and drinks are amazing AND they have a live Mariachi Band. Now I’m more of a homebody, but if I were to go out, I would choose the IPIC movie theater downtown. The atmosphere is very grown and chic and they make you feel very welcomed from the time you walk in.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Greta Clark, my co-director and mother. I wouldn’t be able to pull this off without her support and dedication to help our vision come to life.
