We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mia, how does your business help the community?
With M&M Kuntry Kennels, our business helps so many people. For example, we have placed dogs in homes with people with depression, anxiety, or whoever has experience a lost. We saw that with animals, it can really save a human being. Just seeing the smiles and laughter, really shows we are making a difference.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, I am a LPN and Caregiver. I always told myself that I would never work geriatric patients. When I started to work at a nursing home, it changed my prospective on everything. Now, I work for LuckyDove Home Healthcare, which is run by my lovely uncle, Jimmie Callum Jr. Working for him has been the best decision I have ever made. It’s a family own business and I couldn’t be more proud. Everything is not easy. With time and learning, you grow to be a better human being in the profession. I learned throughout taking care of my clients that patients is a big thing in this profession and everyone does not have that. I am very grateful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to travel and eat. Charleston is definitely known for the food and I really enjoy this place call Bourbon and Bubbles, downtown charleston. They have the best drinks and food. Top golf is another place I love to go as well. The food and drinks are good as well. Plus, you get a little bit of golfing in. Halls Chophouse downtown as well is a really amazing as well. The experience is A1.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Their are two people in my life that I know that I can count on and that is my wonderful husband, Michael Ferguson and my awesome mother Narvell Hawkins. My husband is my backbone and their is nothing I will not do for him. He is the world to me. My mother is just that women. Her support is unmatched, and I appreciate everything she has done for me.
