We had the good fortune of connecting with mhorgan stephens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi mhorgan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I believe that starting your own business is one of the best investments you can truly give yourself. First and foremost I think you should pray on anything you do and just ask God for his guidance and clarity to help lead the way. Starting your own business not only allows you to live out your passion but it also provides you with another opportunity to impact your community and the lives around you. Starting a business is definitely not easy but it will also provide you with a chance to make more streams of income. The average millionaire has at least 7 different streams of income. Starting a business will require dedication, consistency, perseverance, creativity and a open mind.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Mhorgan stephens I am a graduating senior at Clark Atlanta University. I am a business administration major with a concentration in management. Currently serving as the SGA Chief of Staff for undergraduates. I am self published author from South carolina and truly have a heart for helping other. A little about myself is I am very involved on campus in numerous different organizations. I pride myself in being a scholar Activist for the Jospeh E Lowery Institute. This amazing program has provided me to not only help serve my peers through MIMI’s pantry, I also helped register people to vote. Most importantly I have learned how to become a better leader. This program afforded me the opportunity to start my own after school program for Brown Middle School called Mission Accomplished. MIssion Accomplished is an afterschool program with a fluid, activity based curriculum. The program is devoted to cultivating African American young females to exude confidence and self assurance through mentoring, academic progress, social justice and community awareness. I am also the HBCU Campus Engagement Intern with Be The Match, the world’s largest registry of blood stem cell donors. Operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, Be the Match, matches patients with blood disorders like sickle cell and blood cancers such as leukemia with a matching donor who is willing to donate blood stems to cure the patient of his/her disease. Our mission is to save lives through cellular therapy. A patient is likely to match a donor who shares his or her ethnic heritage – A Black patient is likely to match a Black donor. And YES, there is a cure for sickle cell. The HBCU Campus Engagement Internship is important to me because I was diagnosed with my own blood disorder at the age of 10. I underwent numerous treatments that felt like an ongoing roller coaster I couldn’t seem to get off of. I found myself visiting hospitals 3-4 times a week just to get my blood drawn. I underwent chemo treatment and even had my heart start junior year of highschool. Every 3 minutes someone is being diagnosed with a blood disorder or blood cancer. Black patients with blood cancers and blood disorders find matching blood stem donors at a disproportionate rate than Caucasian patients. Because Blacks only make up 4% of the Be The Match Registry, Black patients only stand a 23% chance of finding a donor match. Caucasian patients, on the other hand, find a donor match 77% of the time. To compound the problem of Blacks being underrepresented on the donor registry, patients needing a blood stem cell transplant will not match a family member 70% of the time. If you want to join the registry and help save more lives simply text CAUINTERN to 61474. Another thing I do is trade Forex and Invest. This is an opportunity that has truly allowed me to fund many other goals and projects that I am working on. Learning this skillset has allowed me to start eliminating debt. It’s allowed me to truly learn something that will not only change my life but the generations to come after me. I have seen amazing results. This opportunity has allowed me to gain access to multi millionaires and professional 6-7 figure traders while creating a legacy. Achieving all of these wonderful things were far from easy. One thing I simply pride myself on is despite all the challenges life threw my way I NEVER gave up. Keeping a strong and consistent prayer life has helped me out tremendously. There’s a medical term called dead upon arrival. This is when paramedics gets there and the person who they’ve been called to help is already dead. The paramedics can’t just call the person dead on the scene. They have to wait until they get to the hospital for a physician to do that. So they began to take life preserving measures even when it appears that the person is no longer alive . Have you ever became so close but yet so far away? Have you ever thought maybe things were turning around and they’re finally getting on track, then something happens that knocks you off of your feet. It appears maybe, just maybe for a moment your promise is dead upon arrival? Then we teach ourselves to lower our expectations. For example if I don’t expect much out of life then I won’t be disappointed when things don’t go my way. Or if I’ve been diagnosed with this then I won’t be able to achieve that. Or what happens when our plans we’ve prepared for ends up being shifted and rerouted in a different direction? Ive learned the power of canceled plans. Your prearrangements don’t trump God’s Divine will. Cancel plans will always work in your favor. I also had to watch who I surrounded myself with. 2020 was truly a year of self reflection, elevation, and a season of stillness for me. Having a blood disorder and still being involved in so many different things can become very overwhelming and even taxing at times. Some of my toughest moments where i felt weak and felt like I had already hit rock bottom forced me to understand I could only go up and elevate from there.I have learned that I am gracefully broken to be who I am! Ive also learned its important to know your place in people’s life so you don’t overplay your part. Another thing I learned is some of us don’t have peace because we don’t have principles. Principles help simplify and protect life. I learned the importance of putting yourself first and making sure you are taken care of. It’s impossible to pour from an empty cup. Most importantly you have to know I AM ENOUGH. That alone is a word. Something I want the world to know is my name Is Mhorgan Stephens and this is only the beginning. I will continue to live my life unapologetically and help impact my community and those around me. Remember that were all pregnant with greatness and some of us are actually in labor. This simply means we’re already headed down the right road but we have to keep pushing until greatness is birthed. Greatness doesn’t mean that we won’t fall short or we wont have our flaws. Gratteness is that fact that we can acknowledge our flaws and work to do something about them. In order to make a difference YOU HAVE to be okay with being DIFFERENT!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love hiking and just being surrounded by beautiful scenery so I would take them on a nice hike. We would also have a picnic and just relax and take the time to breath and just reflect over all the thing we are grateful for. I also love food. Some of my favorite places for dining would be The Capitol, Mr everything, Big daddy, ABC breakfast and Touch down wings. Aside from dining out I also love to cook so we could have a great chill night where we relax watch movies, cook, and drink some wine. My favorite place to be is church. It’s very therapeutic for me and I love being able to freely worship so that would definitely be how I end my weekend and start my week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost want to give honor to God because he truly is the head of my life and I would not be where I am today with his unconditional love and guidance. I would also like to Shoutout my mother and father for raising me to be the phenomenal women I am today and for always supporting me through anything. I would like the Give a huge shoutout to my church family (Bishop Levern Mckenny, The Love Center church, and Prayer Mountain Ministries) for continuously praying for me and keeping me covered especially during my journey with ITP. I want to give a shout out to BE The Match for saving lives everyday through cellular therapy and for my AMAZING trading team Rich purpose and prosperity league for teaching me a skillset that has truly changed my life and allows me to create generational wealth. Thank You to my amazing sisters Jassmon and Zyion, My supportive boyfriend, My grandparents, cousins and friends. You all have truly pushed me at times I wanted to give up and believed in me when I couldn’t see my own purpose. I am grateful for the love and support it truly does take a village
