We had the good fortune of connecting with Meron Tadesse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meron, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Why not? I have always been a risk taker so I just went for it. I knew another law school classmate that started his own firm and asked how he started. The Georgia Bar also has resources to start your own law practice so I utilized that as well. Essential I took advantage of all opportunities including joining the Lawyer’s for Equal Justice program.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am proud of the being a black woman attorney, I do not think that people are aware that we only make up about 4% of all attorneys. I am also proud of having my own business as that was always a goal of mine. I got here by not giving up and being consistent. Nothing has been easy about my journey, there is a huge learning curve when it comes to prancing law and owning a business. However nothing is impossible, so definitely having a determined mind set keeps me going. I have learned a ton of lessons but the most important would be the importance of marketing and branding. Also the importance of networking, you never know who you might be talking to. I would want the world to know that if I can do it, then you can do it. Follow your dreams unapologetically.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has a ton of cool spots. My friends love food so I would take her to restaurants such as Milk and Honey, Chef Rob’s, Slutty Vegan, Bangkok Thai, R. Thomas, Mela Ethiopian Kitchen, etc. But we would also do normal spots like Stone Mountain, Lenox Mall, Piedmont Park. There is always something happening in the city so we would probably find a random art exhibits, pop up shops, or even concert to go to as well. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
