We had the good fortune of connecting with Meral Yalcinkaya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meral, what makes you happy? Why?
Production must have something to do with happiness! Yes, I have loved to produce since I was little. And I think it made me. Sometimes by combining a newspaper with plaster and making a wall decor, sometimes by scribbling something.

I graduated from the faculty of fine arts in the EU. I graduated with a double major. 1. It was the art of ceramics and glass. The second is interior architecture. By studying in fine arts, the self-confidence of “I can produce anything” was formed. I love this feeling and it makes me happy. I am currently doing interior design and I am in many houses. I also design aesthetic mirrors. I am making paintings and I have started to use ceramics again, which is my first choice and my focus at the moment. I turned my garage into a workshop in Atlanta. And that’s where I think I can produce anything. It is a place that makes me very happy and finds peace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
No good creation is easy to reach. But I believe that every good thing gets better with patience. That’s why I continue to produce with patience, devotion and faith. The source of production is the idea. That’s why we produce with the right ideas, modern thoughts, keeping the pulse of the society and at the same time revealing our own selves. This allows us to move forward slowly but surely without going backwards. I can say that. If you believe in what you do and put in effort, it will eventually reach more audiences. As designers, we continue to patiently produce and beautify homes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am not very ambitious about this. Because I moved to Atlanta a year ago. But I can say that the best time is autumn. Everywhere becomes a work of art. I can talk about the places I enjoy. The lakes here are very pleasant. 1 day could be spent with a nice lake picnic. Woodstock is also very nice in the evening. I would definitely take it there. I haven’t been able to go yet, but we could go to six flags together. We could take a walk in Piedmont park. We used to have a pleasant coffee dessert session at a french bakery in Buckhead Square. In the evenings, we used to go to sun dial, one of the best restaurants here. It will also sound very strange, but I love to visit furniture and accessory companies. I go regularly every month, especially to see the new products of Lazzoni furniture in Buckhead. As an interior designer, I take the pulse of both customers and companies. I guess I need to travel more so I can plan better 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story has many touches. First of all, it is my family who supported me and made me come to these days. My mother believes in me. I could have taken more care of her. But she wanted me to come to good places. That’s why I feel like my mom is always with me. She supports me.

Then my best friend Damla Dilan. We accomplished a lot with him. Then I got married 2 years ago and now my husband Sirac supports me. We created a company with his family. We all produce. With their support, we created 2 brands. First one Lori Design, second one is Fierra Design. We think it will go even further with our craftsmanship and design ideas.
