We had the good fortune of connecting with Mendey Nabie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mendey, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my determination. I may take a break, but I never give up and I feel like that is so necessary when running your own business. Often times, being an entrepreneur can be difficult and it is hard to stick to the vision, but when you keep going you always see the fruits of your labor. Another important factor is ignoring fears. Having your own company can be scary at times, but you have to trust and believe that you’re capable of accomplishing whatever your goals are. Nothing is impossible, and once I truly learned and understood that, my life has been changing for the better.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Mende Beauty is all about being whole in mind, body, and soul. Therefore, everything I create is based on loving yourself and staying true to who you are. My mission is to create a refreshing beauty aura for individuals to feel comfortable in their own skin and nature and my goal is to provide the essentials tools and advice to help. My genuine care and concern is what I feel sets me apart because so many companies are focused more on the dollar versus I actually love to help people. I love feeling confident and whole and I love for the people around me to be able to enjoy that feeling as well. I am most proud of the impact I leave on others when they enter my space. I feel like I bring a sense of calmness to the storm and I love knowing that I am helping others internally and externally. Mendé Beauty promotes natural beauty and believes everyone should be happy and accepting of the way they were created.

Having determination and believing in my vision is what got me where I am in business. I still have so much in store and now that I have more faith behind it and know I can bring it to life I am so happy about my future in business. Never giving up is how I am still relevant today. I have taken a couple breaks, but even in those breaks I was working and strategizing for my business. Now I have become much more focused and goal driven to bring my entire vision to life. Getting here was not easy at all. This has been one of the most challenging things in life because it forced me to learn myself differently in the process also. It’s been very tough learning to get out of old habits and change my thinking and lifestyle for the better. Being an entrepreneur has shaped me and helped me find me, while enabling me to better my mindset. I overcame my challenges by praying and trusting that what is for me always will be and the things that aren’t I have to let go. I had to learn discipline in this process to know how to differentiate between what I want and what I actually need. I also had to learn time management and I had to get rid of my procrastination. I am definitely still learning but I can say I’ve come a long way.

I want the world to know that my brand is the next big thing! Look forward to seeing my brand in Targets, Sephora, Ulta, Beauty Supply Stores, and my own locations as well. I have a big vision for my brand so I just want the world to look out for me. I prefer to stay behind my brand and keep my personal life private, but everybody will definitely know about Mende Beauty by the time I accomplish all my goals. My brand is an organic, all natural care company based on caring for beauty and personal care needs without all the additives. I focus on providing the simplest products with ingredients that customers can research or will already know and are beneficial to their wellness care. I am working on an all natural product line that will have a variety of products ranging from hair care to skin care and overall wellbeing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to God. He has come through for me in so many ways and I know he is the main reason behind my success. Being an entrepreneur can be very difficult and confusing sometimes and being able to call on God always got me through. Being one of the only entrepreneurs in my family, I had to figure everything out along the way. I faced many obstacles and I learned so many lessons both about myself and business in general. Tuning in and listening to God has strengthened my relationship with him, my business, and myself and I am forever grateful for that. God always comes through for me and if it wasn’t for him giving me the strength and perseverance I might’ve gave up a long time ago. I also would like to shoutout those who have supported me along the way and continue to support me because they contribute to keeping me going. I have met so many amazing people along my journey who have impacted me tremendously and I thank God for it all.
