We had the good fortune of connecting with Melly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melly, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent to impact my children is showing them unconditional love. I always want them to know that I love them more than anything in the world and always will no matter what. My children, Mariah and Skylan, think I’m best mom in the world and that’s the highest honor I could ever receive. Teaching them to stand up for themselves, that they can be anything they want to be and that it’s okay to be yourself is very important but showing them the most love is top tier.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I began my career as a content creator, my goal was to be myself. Little did I know that just doing that would place my content in a league of its own and set me apart from the crowd. My “thing” is playing basketball in heels and doing it great. I love running in heels before making a satisfying swish from the three-point line. Creating content and building following on social media has been fairly easy. There have been challenges along the way, such as my account being unknowingly blocked from searches and another account being taken down. I fought for what I believed in and continued to reach out to the particular social media outlets and eventually got my account back and not shadow banned. I’ve learned that you just have to be persistent. You also have to post all the content that you want out there in the world as you never know which post will be the one to propel you to the next level. I want the world to know that making content is easy for me and doesn’t feel like a job. I love to entertain my audience with content they think is interesting and intriguing and things they’ve never seen before, particularly while wearing heels. I have huge goals for my Welcome to Mellyland brand, so stay tuned!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I’d say, “Let’s go to Orlando for the week,” and take them on another trip! We would visit Animal Kingdom at Disney World and eat at the Harambe Market in Africa. Riding Thunder Mountain Railroad and Passage of Flight would be must dos! Meeting the princesses, riding everything and watching fireworks by the castle at Magic Kingdom is also at the top of my list. We would have a day by the pool to work on our tans before heading to Disney Springs for dinner and eat fish and chips at Cooke’s of Dublin (my FAVORITE). We’d also have to go to Universal Studios Island of Adventure and ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventures as it’s on the best rides ever in my opinion. Then, we’d take a day trip to King’s Landing in Apopka, FL and go canoeing to the Emerald Cut on Rock Springs Run to swim in crystal clear blue water. The lush scenery and blue waters are picture worthy at every angle. I can’t go to Florida without having lunch at Pollo Tropical for a grilled chicken bowl with extra garlic cilantro sauce. For me, Orlando is just a vibe. I’m not much on the night scene, but during the day I love to grab my iced shaken espresso (no sugar) with oat milk and explore until nightfall!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Chris aka GT. He films and edits a lot of my content and goes above and beyond for my Welcome to Mellyland brand which I’m thankful for!
