We had the good fortune of connecting with Mellisha Carter-Linton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mellisha, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.

In the summer of 2021 I read “Dream it. Pin it. Live it. Make Visions Board Work For you” by Terri Savelle Foy.

I was challenged to generate a list of over 100 goals that I wanted to achieve. I started writing and dreaming.

I liked the book because it was faith based and I could relate to what the author was saying being a Christian.

The book transformed my life. My talent of writing was reignited and I started to pray for God’s help to find me a publisher. In the process of writing my book I found my purpose and peace.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am an Internal Auditor, Author, Christian Life Coach and Mentor from the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean. I am very proud of the fact that despite the struggles I have encountered in my life, I am still able to stand and be a good example to my children. I give my best to my profession daily.

I spend lots of years working in the back ground while pursuing tertiary education part time. It was a challenging yet rewarding season, as I had my children while attending university. When I wanted to give up, I would think about them (my children) and get an extra burst of energy and motivation, to stick to the task at hand. I wanted them to know that it was difficult for me but I made it successfully to the end and earned by qualifications.

Some lessons I learnt along the way are: i) Nothing is impossible when you decide that you want to achieve a goal. ii) There are persons who want success but don’t want to put in the hard work. iii) There are persons who will use and manipulate you to get success and try to ruin your life.

I would like the world to know that Mellisha is a fighter. Life knocked her down a few times but she found her inner strength, stepped in faith and ask her Heavenly Father for the resources needed to fulfill her purpose. It is my belief that we all can move “From Bitterness to Betterness” and lead transformed lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Jamaica is a beautiful culturally diversed island. Our motto is “Out of Many One People”. We have some lovely beaches, natural waterfalls and a variety of cuisines to choose from, among other things.
Assuming that my friend enters Jamaica through the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. We could take a trip to Port Royal which is close by and have some delicious sea food. The City of Kingston has wonderful 5 star rated hotels, which offer comfortable accommodations . There are also car rental companies and taxi services, for ease of mobility.

On the 2nd day, we would visit National Heroes Circle, Emancipation Park and the Bob Marley Museum, all in Kingston to get a feel of our history and musical culture.

We could go hiking in the Blue Mountains on the 3rd day . On day 4, we take the highway to Ocho Rios, St. Ann to climb the famous Dunn’s River Falls, participate in other water sports activities and visit the Green Grotto Caves. We would spend the rest of time visiting other locations on the island such as Negril, Westmoreland, trying out different cuisines and close out the week with worship as my friend departs for home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my Heavenly Father for this opportunity and for blessing me with a wonderful Publisher & Coach Crystal S. Daye. Ms. Daye has been very instrumental in helping me to build my Author brand.

I also want to thank my family for their support and brothers & sisters of the faith who have given me a platform to showcase my writing talent, offering prayers on my behalf and for supporting me emotionally through a difficult season.
