Meet MELISSA WHITE | Craft Artisan & Enthusiasts

We had the good fortune of connecting with MELISSA WHITE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MELISSA, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I didn’t pursue it…it chose me! I am gifted in a multitude of creative skills. So much so that it feels to be apart of my DNA. If one day I woke up and all my creative abilities were gone and I wasn’t able to create anything…I might as well be dead! Creativity is my 9-5, my safe space, my way of living…. grateful to be chosen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a home decor fanatic. I like to create unique pieces with my hands. I make candles, door decor, upcycle furniture, diy art and tchotchkes, and some interior decor. I am most excited about my candles! They are my favorites because they have an artistic flare, they are eye catching, and smell amazing!
Bella Dazzles was just an idea I started to call what I did to bedazzle sneakers. Once people started to like my ideas, I wanted to show more of what I could do without any training. It has been a tough journey, but worth it.
The business is VERY new and I have yet to reach my goals, but I’m on my way to them! I have so much more to learn and educating yourself is a must. My advice to any entrepreneurs of creative businesses would be to educate yourself and make growth a practice.
The Bella Dazzles brand is all about making the life that surrounds you beautiful! I am just here to be of service and help others make their best impression!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I am a foodie and a lover of music. All of my friends are the same. We would definitely hit multiple restaurants in Edgewood, Buckhead and Peters Street. I love supporting black businesses and mom and pops too so we have to go to places like Paschals, Hattie Marie’s BBQ, and The Peach Cobbler Cafe! We love our reality girls so shopping at Tags, Pressed, Yelle, and Heavenly Beauty Supply are a must. We have to hang out Downtown and take lots of pics at places like Krog Street Tunnel! Then we’d do some fun things like Trap Karaoke or go to MICS, hit Garra and JeJu Spas, do some ax throwing and check out so art at Art & Soul.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my mother Claranett for teaching me to do things for myself and MAKE life beautiful even when it isn’t. My father for showing me that working for yourself is a blessing and helping others is a gift. Thank you to JeQuetta “JCANDO” Stevens-Canady for helping me get this opportunity.
