We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my brand which is healing people’s scalp. Restoring, Regrowing, & Replenishing Healthy Hair.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is I am a Loctician of 25yrs that cares about your hair, I specialize in healthy hair care and the health of your scalp. I’m most excited about my Natural Hair Care Line called Loc Em Up Products started in 2011. I produce my own natural hair products that not only heal your scalp, but also grow your hair. It has not always been easy for Melissa Creations to come up as one of the best Loctician’s in Atlanta. Back in 2005, moving here from Jacksonville Florida, all I know is I had passion and a gift and that’s what I stood on. Everything has not always been good. There has been some challenges, going through adivorce & being homeless, but I got through it all. I’ve learned that just because they have the title “family”does not mean that they are. What I want people to know is when you have a passion, or a idea about something that you really love don’t ever give up no matter who doesn’t agree or who doesn’t support your journey. It’s about you and God, he will lead your way and he will put the right people in your path for you to be successful. In 2007 I established my salon on the Southside of Atlanta. By this time I had become well known in the industry, maintaining the hair of celebrities like 2 Chainz, Polo, the Don, etc., just to name a few. Recently adding T.I. to this list.

Presently, since 2020, I own Diamond Salon Suites located in Clayton County. I am proud to say I am a Loctician, a manufacturing company and a salon owner.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sun: Copeland “Brunch” Mon: Circa “All you can Eat Crab Legs”
Tues : Roc South
Wed: Revel
Thurs: Ponce City Market
Fri: Club 426
Sat: Club Bolts

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wanna give a shout out to my sister Teresa Scott, she always believed in me and my craft. She’s been there since day 1 encouraging me to keep going. My children, Jelissa, Ser’Darus & Freddrick are always helping produce product, working the shows & just being there. Last but not least my social media manager that holds it down, Susana Walas, is amazing. She also has her own hair care line and still makes sure I’m successful as well. That’s what you call a queen! Thank you to all that are playing a part in this success.
