We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Pope and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I would say my biggest impact is showing them even when times get hard; you can get right back up and start anew. My kids have seen me struggle, lose it all and then get it all back again. I have shown them that life happens, and you have to just be prepared for whatever comes your way. Most importantly I have shown to stay faithful and to always keep God first.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently pursuing my Acting career which all started in June 2022. I started out doing Background Acting and I realized this dream I have had since a child is coming back full force. After having kids I just felt it would never happen for me. I sort of just gave up on those dreams and went into survival mode and did what was needed to take care of my children. I have been in Corporate America for sooooooooo long-and my heart is just not there anymore with it. In doing Background Acting I met so many beautiful people that is hungry for the same interest as I am. I have done so much networking and research on Acting Roles here in the Atlanta area. I remember one day I was crying to God asking him to show me my purpose; and when I say the flood gates opened for me. That prayer was so intense and heartfelt, and I knew I needed a change in my life. So now my Background Acting has been upgraded to Speaking Roles with some amazing Directors.
Believe in yourself and know you are worthy of every dream you have ever wanted; don’t’ allow anyone to take that from you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So if my friends were coming to the area; our week would go like this:
-Brunch-Atlanta Breakfast Boys
-Shopping-Perimeter Mall & Lenox & Atlantic Station
-Drinks and Fun-Jewelz Lounge (Gwinnett County) & Rock Steady
-The Battery is always a place of many choices of things to do
-Nails and Beauty-Elite Image & Nail Consultants (1745 Peachtree Street)
-The Best Music and Great food and Vibes-The Clutch ATL
-Sunday Funday-The Patio & Monticello
Atlanta has the most amazing Showcase of food, entertainment and just so much fun–its so hard to pick locations at times.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would for sure say my mother, and my 2 bestfriends Sean Underdue & Subrinia Blanchard. They all have pushed me in ways that sometimes I be so irritated but at the same time so motivated after talking with them. (lol-they gonna kill me) But they always make sure I see my accountability in everything that happens in my life. They always remind me that no matter how people can hurt you or even do you wrong-you must ALWAYS find the lesson and accountability portion on why you allowed these things to happen to you. When I truly understood what they were explaining to me–life has been so different. People only do what you ALLOW-and now I have SET boundaries for anyone that is in my life. So thank you SO much for being the most amazing mentors I could have ever asked for.
