Meet Melissa Giles | North Atlanta Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, my business started in the most personal way possible—with my son. When he was born, I didn’t want to miss a single moment. Every little expression, every milestone, every fleeting second—I wanted to capture it all. That passion for preserving memories quickly turned into something bigger.
I realized I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. Other families, other parents, they all wanted the same thing: to hold on to the moments that pass too quickly. That’s where it all began. But as I grew in my craft, so did my vision.
From there, I stepped into branding photography. I saw how powerful the right image could be in telling a story, building a business, and creating a connection. I wanted to help other entrepreneurs show up confidently and bring their brands to life in a way that felt real and authentic.
And then, boudoir photography. This became a whole new passion—helping women see themselves in a way they might not have before. Empowering them. Reminding them of their strength, their beauty, their worth. Seeing someone walk away from a session with a newfound confidence? That feeling is everything.
So, my business? It’s about more than just photos. It’s about stories, emotions, empowerment, and capturing the moments that matter most—whether it’s for a mother, a business owner, or a woman reclaiming her confidence. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Wow, where do I even start? Owning a business is not easy. It’s messy, exhausting, and at times, completely overwhelming. Finding balance between work and life? Still a work in progress. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that believing in myself and my worth has made all the difference.
I didn’t wake up one day and have it all figured out. There were doubts, setbacks, and plenty of moments where I questioned if I was good enough. But I kept going. I put in the work, learned from my mistakes, and most importantly, stayed true to why I started this journey in the first place—because I love what I do. I love my craft, I love capturing moments that matter, and I love helping others along the way.
My portfolio is something I’m incredibly proud of—not just because of the work itself, but because of the people I’ve had the privilege of working with. I believe in inclusivity, in community over competition, and in the idea that what you put out into the world comes back to you. Photography isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about telling stories, celebrating diversity, and creating something meaningful.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that I care. About my clients, about my fellow creatives, and about lifting others up. This journey hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The people watching in Atlanta is amazing. There’s so much to do here, and so much diversity! When having family or visitors from out of town, my go to is all the restaurants and food! In Peachtree Corners, we love going to the restaurant Stage. The food is amazing and the bartenders (Hi Alicia!) are kind and attentive. Visiting Blue Ridge, and all the little down town shops is also a must. And of course visiting the wineries such as Kaya Vineyards, Serenbe, or Crane Creek.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am incredibly grateful to my family and my husband—his support and belief in my dreams have paved the way for me to start my business over ten years ago and share my creativity with others. I also love supporting fellow photographers and local businesses, believing wholeheartedly in community over competition.
