We had the good fortune of connecting with Melba Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melba, what do you attribute your success to?
The true foundation of our success at Path to Peace lies in the strength of our team. From our therapist, biller and accountant, to my family and our clients, everyone plays a vital role. We’re always working behind the scenes, focusing on personal growth and improvement. We don’t just talk about healing, we’re committed to walking the path ourselves. By being intentional in our own journeys toward peace, we show up authentically for our clients. This genuine approach to therapy not only inspires those we serve but also reinforces our purpose of spreading love, because, at the heart of it all, God is love. This authenticity is what drives our brand’s success on every level.

At A Path to Peace, our motto is simple yet powerful: “Take the next step to becoming a better you!” We believe in offering a non-judgmental, compassionate approach, where progress is made one step, and one day, at a time. Our phrase, “I’m on my PATH TO PEACE,” serves as a daily reminder to not let triggers control us, to set healthy boundaries, and to maintain a growth mindset. It’s about creating the inner peace we all need in order to thrive. This commitment to personal growth and healing is at the heart of why our brand resonates with so many and continues to thrive.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A Path to Peace is like one of my babies—something I’ve built from the ground up. I started it during the pandemic with a deep desire to offer services and connect with people. God spoke to my spirit, and everything shifted. While working as a school counselor, I reached a point where I wasn’t happy or fulfilled anymore. I began discussing with my husband the possibility of a career change, and that’s when I decided to take the leap and start building my brand.

The first year was tough—there were seven months where I didn’t receive a single paycheck. I later learned that I’d been burned by someone along the way. But then, I met my amazing biller, who has stuck with me through all the ups and downs. For a while, I continued to work two jobs to ensure I felt financially secure enough to make the switch. Even though my husband wanted me to focus entirely on the business, I wanted to contribute and not add extra stress to our lives.

On February 9th, I took a leap of faith and closed that chapter. Nervous, scared, but trusting God, I stepped out. Leaving my job wasn’t easy, but I knew it was the right time.

Running a business is far from simple. The saying “We make it look easy” is true—we’re constantly behind the scenes, dealing with unexpected challenges that can be overwhelming at times. But whenever I feel the weight, I remind myself of my purpose, of why I’m doing what I’m doing. I’ve learned to be hands-on with every part of my business, because you never know what might come up. I’ve embraced change and growth, knowing that I’ll never stop learning and evolving.

And now, I’m excited to share that A Path to Peace is expanding! We’ll soon be serving communities in across Michigan, Georgia, and Texas. The journey has been incredible, and I can’t wait for what’s next. We offer an amazing Self-Care T-shirt line at peacetees.shop

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not someone who has a specific hangout spot, but I’m definitely a planner! If we’re getting together, you can bet there will be an itinerary. First, we’ll get dressed up and head out for some delicious food, live music, and drinks. I’m all about a fun excursion, and of course, we’re making a trip to the mall. I absolutely love shopping! Honestly, just being with family and friends gets me so excited, and I’d make sure to include a relaxing spa day to unwind. It’s all about creating memories and having a great time together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I give all glory to God, the head of my life. None of this would be possible without His guidance and strength. We all know that teamwork makes the dream work, and I’ve been blessed to have incredible support along the way.

A huge shoutout to my husband, the Chief Financial Officer of A Path to Peace. He’s been my rock behind the scenes, working tirelessly with me. The late nights and hard work we’ve put in together have truly paid off, and I’m beyond grateful for his love, support, and dedication.

To my two amazing sons, Jaiden and Miles—these young men live and breathe A Path to Peace. Their contributions behind the scenes are invaluable, and their commitment never goes unnoticed.

I can’t forget to shout out my parents, my backbones. There’s no love or support like theirs. They’ve always been there for me, ready to give and do whatever it takes every step of the way.

Thank you to my entire family and all of my supporters. I’ve had so many people lend a hand throughout this journey, and I am forever thankful for each one of you.

A special shoutout to my incredible mentor, Dr. Calloway—may her soul rest in peace. She was tough on me, and we didn’t always see eye to eye, but her guidance pushed me to grow in ways I’ll always appreciate.

Finally, a shoutout to my amazing Peace Team. Together, we make it happen every day, and I’m so grateful for the support we share. The growth we’ve seen is a testament to our collective effort, and we’re just getting started. Representation matters, and we’re proud to be living proof of that.
