Meet Melanated Glow: Business owner for health of the mind, body, soul, and spirit

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanated Glow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melanated, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After seeing what my products were doing for my self and the people around me that I love, my spirit felt as though I should offer to the world. There is so many toxic ingredients going into what is being created that we think that some of the sickness we experience is normal when it is a response to the unnatural products entering our body through our mouths and skin.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My major in college was Computer and Electrical Engineering. After doing that, I became a teacher. While doing that, I became a spoken word artist and business owner. I’ve always been an educator and I come from a family of educators so it isn’t a surprise that I enjoy dedicating my energy for the youth who are next in line to rule the world. My journey was pretty fluid, learning beautiful lessons along the way, as long as I didn’t try to go against what was meant for me. Allowing our intuition to guide our thoughts and actions brings a peace that some won’t ever be able to understand. It is a knowing that comes from the inside that has nothing to do with what others think you should or should not do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely visit all of the vegan spots that cook with an ital vibe from Miami to Broward County starting with the black owned establishments with great food. We will visit one a day unless they want some good seafood or other type of cooking. As for adventuring we would definitely go to the beach and spend time out there. We will go to some events in the area. I love open mic spots and performing so it would be great to share that with my best friend! Hopefully they will be up to visiting some farmer’s markets, the Swap Shop (where small businesses sell new and used goods), and meet some people doing great work in the community! Of course we can get some partying in during the Night Life with a Brunch some where in the mix!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am always grateful for my parents, Toni and Cal, as they prioritized my existence before I was conceived. This love has made me the person that I am today. Because of them I was able to attract beautiful friends that enhance my journey. I know and love myself because that is what I was raised in. I am because they are. Ubuntu!
